that engenders a sense among many LEOs that they are untouchable.
I am not suggesting that most of these killings rise to 1st degree murder, but I am saying that the combination of arrogance, hyped up fear and lack of training result in the killing of civilians and cops are often not held accountable as they should be.
And it's not just murder. It's flagrant abuse of power. It's the beefing up of too many police departments into quasi military outfits with special forces that are used recklessly.
This is obviously not a good thing and is a serious problem that is expanding.
And the situation is bad enough to have a troop carrier repurposed as a vehicle to deliver court documents.........WTF?

(65,616 posts)Their heavy handed tactics are leaving a mental scar across the country. It seems every single day we hear about another tragic death that could have been avoided if only the police were not pretending to be in the military and in a warzone.
The day the cops started treating us like we we're the terrorists, is they day we lost our rights as free citizens. REMEMBER, 9/11 changed everything, including the way cops handle society.

(8,395 posts). . . is to eliminate entirely the role of police department internal affairs divisions in any investigation, disciplinary actions and prosecutions for misconduct, and to place those matters entirely under independent civilian panels. Internal affairs divisions are always a fucking joke!
