Russia's response to Susan Rice on the subject of Ukraine.

In response to a warning by US national security adviser Susan Rice yesterday that it would be a “grave mistake” for Russia to send troops into Ukraine, Russia has told her the advice may be better directed towards the White House, Russian news agency Interfax reports, citing a Russian foreign ministry source.

The source is quoted as saying:

We have seen the expert evaluations of Susan Rice, which are based on repeated US military interventions in multiple places around the world, especially where the US administration is of the opinion that the norms of Western democracy are in danger or ruling regimes begin too clearly ‘to get out hand’.


We consider that the current presidential adviser will give this kind of advice about the error of using force to the US leadership in the event of a decision about a new intervention.

4. I thought most of what Susan Rice said yesterday was hypocritical

BS, but I'm hardly surprised.

6. I thought she was trying to be nice, but she just couldn't maintain it long enough.

Had to make a few threats. You see the same thing in the Iran talks. They come out with some nice friendly mutually agreed plan, and then somebody pipes up: "But boy if you guys break your word again and try to destroy the world, that is going to be just it!!!", and point out that: "WE are the good guys and YOU are not." It's almost like a reflex.

5. No doubt the putsch was timed for the Olympics

when Moscow and aligned states had to be especially dove-ish.

I wonder if part II of the Orange Revolution will also be added to the CIA's "playbook".
