Welcome, Mr. President, to *12-dimensional* chess.

I was just listening to a recording of Chris Matthews from a few days ago. He was talking (well, shouting) that President Obama has decided that flipping off his base and appeasing Republicans isn't a winning strategy. Apparently, that just makes everyone angry. So the President will end the appeasing and the flipping off, at least until the election, and do some good, Democratic stuff like his executive order raising the minimum wage for those paid by the federal government.

Excellent!

We've been hearing for five years that the President is playing a game of 11-dimensional chess which mere mortals don't understand. Meanwhile, the real unemployment rate is staggeringly high and barely budging and more school children are homeless than ever before. Oh, and the wealthy are doing better than ever, and the banks have never been bigger, etc.

So, Mr. President, welcome to the next dimension of chess play: the one that all manner of other people (who now have arrows in their asses) were suggesting for 5 years. Welcome to 12-dimensional chess, or what we simple people call "acting like a Democrat". You'll find it to be an improvement over the old strategy as, Lord knows, the 99% will.

And by the way Mr. President, it may be a little to late in the game, but there's yet another dimension you could achieve - the Liberal dimension. It's the most winning dimension of chess the world has ever known. If interested, check with Elizabeth Warren or one of the other masters who've achieved it, they'll be happy to mentor you.

Let me try to figure this out. If you vote for a candidate because he promises a lot of things you agree with, then he totally abandons those positions, 'offshore drilling' 'mandated insurance' etc, AFTER he gets your vote, then you feel betrayed, that equals HATE!

Wow, I never knew what HATE meant until NOW. Hey, thanks for the info although I'm still having trouble figuring out how voting for someone = hate.

But then, I'm just one of those morons on the 'left' who expect people to tell the TRUTH. What a ridiculous concept, TRUTH.

HATE = Expecting those we support to tell us the TRUTH!

but citing a law that passed four years before CETA really isn't the way to do it.

In fact it blows your argument out of the water: you just provided proof that four years after NAFTA the United States Congress wasn't constrained by NAFTA but passed a highly protectionist copyright extension law that was upheld by SCOTUS.

The next time you challenge me about a law, it would be helpful if you read and discussed the same law I'm talking about.

Posting a bad graphic can happen to anyone,

the memorable hilarity in that classic thread wasn't really the map

it was the Doubling Down, Tap Dancing, and Shadow Puppeting in the rest of the thread trying to make FALSE appear to be true.

Casting yourself as a victim would perhaps have been more effective if my post had not been in response to your attempt to smear the credibility of another DUer...as usual, a liberal DUer.

Ditto for your attempt to portray yourself as the poor, abused author of a "gaffe." One reading of the thread shows that not only did you *never* acknowledge your absurd story about the fuel gauge as having been demonstrably wrong, but you and other predictably pro-corporate posters doubled down on your disinformation and mocked and ridiculed DUers who tried to correct your story. You did not make a "gaffe." You tried to rewrite and ultimately deny the outrageous hijacking of the flight of a head of state by corporate powers in order to pursue whistleblower, Edward Snowden...And you continued to try to spread this disinformation even after one of the countries involved *apologized* for its role in the forced landing.

In fact, smear and nastiness and trying to discredit any facts or posters inconvenient to the narrative of the corporate state seem, sadly, to be the goal of much of your posting here. You are a prolific and enthusiastic repeater of smears of Edward Snowden, smears of Glenn Greenwald, smears of Julian Assange...

And your civility toward liberal DUers? As I noted before in response to your jawdroppingly hypocritical attempts to lecture other Duers about civility, here is KittyWampus calling DUers:

It took me all of a minute on google to find that vitriol from you, and I could have filled pages with what I found there. It is all familiar, predictable, and very telling.

________________________________________________________________________
* I will anticipate here (since I don't intend to carry this silly argument any further) your forthcoming protest that "Ratfucking is a POLITICAL term." For the benefit of anyone reading here, I can predict that you will say that only because you have been called out on this behavior toward other DUers so many times before, and that is what you always do. But as you have been told many times but chronically pretend you have not heard, your use of the term is incorrect for its political meaning. You use it for effect.

There are 3 dimensions and time. Work with what you have and know. See the simplest patterns. Fix the obvious problems. Do what's right. Keep promises.

... and its tearing you up.

Obama was supposed to prove how evil he was by cutting Social Security. That's what we were told for almost his entire Presidency.

Some screamed louder than others. You are correct that some are angry. But you are wrong about who that has been.

Its the perpetually disgruntled who have screamed endlessly about potential outrages that never materialized.

Their outrage remains, but their disgruntled screams now sound rather hoarse and garbled.

Kind of like this OP.

48. I never claimed that the President would cut Social Security
Tue Feb 25, 2014, 09:15 AM
Feb 2014

He can't cut it himself. He needs Congress to do it. Look it up, pretty basic stuff.

What I did predict is that he'd call for cuts, which he did. This prediction was easy: leading up to his call for cuts, the President started justifying cuts, set up all kinds of cover for himself (e.g., his Catfood Commission), and repeatedly lied about Social Security to make it seem like its current incarnation is not what was originally intended.

In our land of plenty, knowingly calling for cuts that will cause our most vunlerable to go hungry and cold is monsterous.

And more disastrous free trade agreements... Sweeping financial deregulation... Unlimited banker bailouts... Enormous increases in inequality and homelessness.... Keeping more than 2/3rds of the Bush tax cuts... Bragging that his austerity has been the greatest since Hoover...

Maybe that all amounts to a wonderful tenure in your eyes, but it doesn't in the eyes of most Americans.

How could one expect the President to totally fix, in 5 years, an economy that took more than 30 years to break.

You'd have to think he was some kind of Messiah.

Here's the problem you've got Manny. President Obama has about 3 years remaining. Things will continue to get better. Even as the GOP works endlessly to obstruct everything.

The opportunities for outrage will continue to diminish.

DADT was never going to end.
We were never going to leave Iraq, or Afghanistan.
We were going to invade Libya, Egypt, and Syria. Iran too.
The Bush tax cuts for the top 2% were going to be made permanent.
Social Security and Medicare were going to be GUTTED/SLASHED/KILLED.

Others will fall as well.

You only have to put up with him for another 1059 days 14 hours and 9 minutes (at the time of this post). And then they'll swear in Elizabeth Warren, I guess.

Does 12 dimension chess prove string theory?

Are people so hard up that they're making things up? Face it, President Obama will never do anything that will please just us two but he's doing a damn good job and I still have faith.

I don't like the EO thing because I'm afraid we'll have a thuglican in the White House sometime and he'll use he President's eo as precedent.

Seriously, that kind of condescending bullshit is exactly why a lot of your posts are a huge turn off. I'm pretty sure Elizabeth Warren would (in her nice Elizabeth Warren way) tell you where to go if she were to bear witness to the way you attempt to talk down to President Obama.
