Jon Stewart Delivers One Of The Best Interviews In Recent Memory

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi went on "The Daily Show" for an interview with Jon Stewart. Rep. Pelosi appeared surprised and visibly uncomfortable when Stewart repeatedly confronted her with hard-hitting questions about both the corrupting influence of money in politics and what we'll charitably call the lackluster effort by those in power to actually fix the problem.

This interview is an absolute must-watch — the relevant segment starts at 2:53 in Part 2 and continues into Part 3. Stay tuned for the lamest attempt to change the subject in the history of mankind at 2:07 in Part 3.

----------------------------

Color me shocked that this interview even needed to happen, but it clearly does. He takes her to school and maybe it's about time someone did confront Democrats regarding conflict of interest donations.

"green" environment, that the audience was laughing *at* her (ridiculous attempt to change topic), not *with* her?

But "our public servants are patriotic." He nailed her good on that one, too.

On everything. Best line paraphrased Glass-Steghal vs Frank-Dodd: We had a simple 2 page document that was uncorruptable and worked. Now we have 900 pages full of loopholes.

...needs to understand that this is an effin war with the bat-shit crazy right, and whenever he chooses to attack someone like Nancy Pelosi - one of the good 'guys' - he's providing aid and comfort to the enemy. Sure the question of bought and paid for politicians should be addressed, but the way the question should be put to someone that would actually be willing to change things is, just that - a question like... 'How do we go about changing this mess and getting the money out?'...not ambushing her just to appease conservative critics that says he goes easy on Democrats. I mean, what's the point? No matter what he does the Wingnuts will still hate him - and never be part of his audience anyway. Comeon Jon, it's time you got back to calling dicks, dicks, and not worrying about playing to conservatives that only pay attention when you criticize him.

Force all the Dems to fight for campaign finance reform so they can run ads claiming hypocrisy every time a Democrat takes a big donation. And of course, even if they do make campaign finance laws the mega corps will still have their corporate freedom of speech to sway election. I think it will take the Dems to have the house, Senate and Presidency before it can be passed. The rest will have to wait for a new scotus or a Constitutional amendment.

And she did. Not everyone shines when confronted with the truth, but generally, a politician's stock in trade is deflecting the truth smoothly. Nancy wasn't smooth today. Stewart didn't let her be smooth. But don't worry, she'll be okay.

Pelosi is my rep, and I personally wish she would get a primary opponent now and then, even if she's nominated. A primary would force her to pick a side, and pull left. Reelection should NEVER be a guarantee.

to admit just how corrupt our government is? I do believe there are a handful of politicians in Washington that care about this but until there's a bushel and not a handful, nothing will be said seriously by either side unless it's pointing the finger at the opposite side.

All of them.

To say that we shouldn't do this to Democrats because somehow it will help Republicans win is to totally miss the point and to totally allow the politicians to get away with crap.

Stewart is amazing, because he won't just let people get away with shit.

But what was noticeable to me was her hand gustures...every word and phrase was accompanied by a hand gustrue...something that magicians do to distract for the slight of hand.

But I don't believe Stewart convinced her of anything...and she will continue on just as before raking in the money and making excuses for why things don't work any more for the people...bad cop made me do it.

Jon Stewart is the best journalist on TV...and that says something about the profession.

Did she just say that?

Here Stewart is trying to be as respectful as he can be while asking some tough questions and she repays that respect with lie after lie after lie. That not only disrespects Stewart, it disrespects the audience by assume we're all idiots.

Now, replace Pelosi with Warren, ask the exact same questions and see what kind of responses you get.

Something along the lines of, if you want to criticize power and remain safe, you have to do it in the form of comedy.

I really want to find/see that again.
