An overwhelming majority of Democrats want Hillary Clinton to run in 2016, according to a New York Times/CBS poll released Wednesday.
More than 80 percent of self-described Democrats surveyed were supportive of Clinton running, with a margin of error of plus or minus six percent. 13 percent of Democrats didn't want her to run, and five percent said they didn't know enough to decide. 52 percent of Independents also said they wanted her to run.

Respondents were also uncertain about Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who was singled out by The New Republic in November as Hillary Clinton's biggest potential challenger. Only 22 percent of Democrats said they wanted Warren to run, and 56 percent said they didn't know enough about her to decide.
In contrast to the Democrats' unity, there was no clear favorite candidate among the Republicans surveyed. 41 percent said they'd like Jeb Bush to run, with 27 against a Bush candidacy. 39 percent were for Rand Paul running, and 21 percent were opposed.

(13,685 posts)The numbers will flip. We want something new. That's why Obama beat Hillary in 2008.
Number23
(24,544 posts)It's a shame that so many "covert agents" and "personas" are so determined to pin this as a Warren vs. Hillary thing. When it's not and obviously never has been.

(30,439 posts)Even more peculiar are the folks that try to make it Obama vs Warren. They try to create an artificial animosity between the two that doesn't even exist. As if that benefits the Democratic Party.
Number23
(24,544 posts)And it's no surprise that some of the main ones trying to create this false schism between the three have huge support on conservative web sites. No surprise at all.

(8,361 posts)Yes, she talks a good game. But why disn't she protest the nomination of Jack Lew as Treasury Secretary? He's a former investment banker who got huge bonuses from Wall Street just prior to taking this job.
Why didn't she adamantly oppose Janet Yellen for Fed Chair? Yellen has been a bankster most of her career.
I could support Warren if she had advocated someone from academia in these roles, but she was virtually silent as they merely brought in different foxes to watch the hen house.

(115,103 posts)As much as this party has drifted to the right, I'd think Warren would be welcomed by most voters.

(3,431 posts)you just told us that you are a gvmt spy. The "pretzel" fits you. Thus anything you try to contribute should be ignored by everyone, except of course for those who are tooting the same horn.

(8,361 posts)P.S. so you deny the facts I brought up about Warren? We need a TRUE progressive Democrat to run in 2016. Based on her votes, Warren doesn't fit the bill.

(5,420 posts)those percentages ran 75/25 during most of the time people were choosing with a 5% increase to the Hillary group during the last hour or two that people were still answering the poll.

(5,420 posts)Yes this was a totally professionally done poll. Get real. It is only accurate to the point that the 185 people who answered it probably put their actual preference.
Why look for an argument?

(517 posts)she would most likely follow in Obamas footsteps in looking forward, supporting free market Capitalism and the TPP and other trade agreements that have produced millions of good jobs here in the US.
Probably would also fully support the NSA and all of the spying programs as well.
Obviously this has always had the support of 80 percent of "self described" Democrats each and every pool taken so it must be true.
Im looking forward to voting on electronic voting machines, which have been shown to be safe and effective without error.
For Hillary of course, because she is the only one who can further policies that benefit the 1%. Because if we dont vote for her and support her efforts to enrich the 1% even more, the Republicans will win.
And that would be scary, because we all know the republicans would support free market Capitalism, the TPP, the NSA and the 1%
Thank goodness Ive seen the light and can safely and proudly vote now

(46,179 posts)expect the 22% polled to vote for her anyway? How many of them are in denial?
It's a long, long time before anybody has to make a choice. When 56% don't know enough to decide, those numbers don't mean much.
I haven't jumped on anyone's bandwagon at this point. I know I won't be jumping on HRC's, or any other neoliberal's, at any point, but other than that, I'm wide open.
