Fundie nut building Noah's Ark for $73million of public's money

The fundamentalist nut who debated Bill Nye (The Science Guy) is using the publicity he got from the debate to piss away $73m on a chunk of religious insanity. The baby Jesus must be shedding tears that the money isn't going to help the poor and needy.

Creation Museum founder Ken Ham announced Thursday that a municipal bond offering has raised enough money to begin construction on the Ark Encounter project, estimated to cost about $73 million. Groundbreaking is planned for May and the ark is expected to be finished by the summer of 2016.

Ham said a high-profile evolution debate he had with "Science Guy" Bill Nye on Feb. 4 helped boost support for the project.

Nye said he was "heartbroken and sickened for the Commonwealth of Kentucky" after learning that the project would move forward. He said the ark would eventually draw more attention to the beliefs of Ham's ministry, which preaches that the Bible's creation story is a true account, and as a result, "voters and taxpayers in Kentucky will eventually see that this is not in their best interest."

I often wonder whether people like Ken Ham actually believe the religious crap they're peddling, or if he's just another snake oil salesman getting rich off money from misguided dupes.

The more money poured into Ham's Ark, the less $$$ available for the Perry/Cruz/Santorum campaigns.

Don't need a crystal ball to see how this project will work out:

1. Donations lag behind projected $73 MM cost.
2. Construction starts.
3. Costs expected to exceed $95 MM.
4. Construction stops.
5. Minor embezzlement scandal dries up donations.
6. Some low level project manager goes to jail, $3.5 MM missing.
6. Ham announces plans for a larger ark in Mississippi.

I wonder how many of these RWNJs actually believe what they spout off. Or is this just another source of income.

they might realize that two of each animal - bacteria - viruses - insects - just wouldn't fit on it. And, without taking all the botanical biota in the world, when the animals debouched onto dry land what would they eat? Of course, those people really don't have the intellect to figure that out. They have faith. They cannot be reasoned with.

These nuts believe the world is only 6000 years old, so dinosaurs and humans evidently lived at the same time.

That aside, what did they do with all the animal excretions? If they dumped it overboard, doesn't that make them the first polluters?

I don't get the feeling he's profoundly bothered by the fact that he can get people to write checks to finance it, though.

I didn't know that he actually trolled on DU. Must have gotten quite a reception.

much fun was had in MIRT that day.

As for the rest of it, I can't really answer, because my approach to understanding reality is so fundamentally different from that dude's, that it's sort of a lost cause.
