Everything we need to know about his views and philosophy on trade.
First of all, Michael Froman comes from a background of Big Banking. Citibank to be precise. Froman is leading the charge and he's aggressively pro big corporations and practically dismissive of public interest organizations, though he certainly gives lip service to it.
Islam Siddiqui, oth, is an outspoken and big time supporter of GMOs. He has actively worked to defeat GMO labeling. He's a former lobbyist for such companies as Monsanto, Bayer Crop Life and Dupont, among others
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_A._Siddiqui
And now he's added another lobbyist by nominating a big time SOPA lobbyist as deputy USTR.
This should alarm you unless you're too slow to understand why it's problematic or so wrapped up in believing that President Obama is the bestest prez ever and these are GRRRREAT nominations.

(13,101 posts)He continues to appointment enemies of the 99% and enemies of the environment.
He is doing what no Republican could get away with.
The good cop, bad cop scenario is getting old.
What is the point of voting when both parties are clueless ???
It sickens me.
When the Democratic politicians cave in on social issues the coup will be complete.

It's not We the People.

(13,101 posts)is a better description.
Everything they do is intentional.
They are intentionally destroying every thing that matters to the 99% in the U.S. and around the globe.
Mass unemployment and starvation is the future.
If you are not rich, you will die.

(53,475 posts)You got a bone thrown to you - (insert social justice issue here) - so complaining about his giving away the store just proves you're a racist hater, or purist, or that you don't want to win elections, or that you're not "reality based", or something. So just shut up.

...it if it does "alarm you," but you still believe that "President Obama is the bestest prez ever"?
Do you think that not "GRRRREAT nominations" means that President Obama is the worstest "prez ever"?

(19,877 posts)How dare you understand that no one is perfect and you will disagree with them from time to time but that they are still worthy of your respect! Don't you know where you are?! If we can't have perfection, then we must tear it all down!!!
As for me, I believe sometimes progress is measured one inch at a time.

(114,904 posts)and it's largely about your attachment to this president.
you make excuse after excuse after excuse. insist that it's personal to others, the way it is to you and generally attempt to divert attention from any criticism of President Obama.
Do you think that you can get an indication of Presidential priorities on an issue from who that President appoints?
This really isn't personal to me. President Obama? Likable man. Great politician. Better than Romney or McCain by leagues on social issues. His trade policies? Pushing the TPP and TTIP? Horrible. His economic issues? Often way too weak and way too kind to corporations and the 1%.

(19,877 posts)Nice projection though. I'm probably the LEAST emotionally connected person to politics you'll ever meet. My emotional connection is to progress, labor, and the working class. It just so happens that one party offers absolutely NO ideas or solutions to further either cause and are actually quite openly against those principles. I'm more of an anti-Republican by any means necessary. Don't mind me for pointing out the obvious above.

(114,904 posts)Your devotion to President Obama is something you've stressed repeatedly. You think he's wonderful. Your posts come from that place.
I sure don't see YOU standing up for labor when you dismiss things like the TPP and President Obama's appointments to the USTR.

(19,877 posts)Here's the thing, the ONLY thing my above comment proves is that I meant exactly what I said. Yes, I have defended Obama, and yes, I have criticized Obama. That's what normal RATIONAL people do. Unlike some people here...

(19,877 posts)Defend, criticize. It's the RATIONAL thing to do.
Like I said, you must be mistaking me for someone else.

(55,981 posts)to support. Some Democrats, while better than the Repub Clowns, are not for the working class. The "best of evils" theory isnt getting it done, as we continue our slide into mass poverty. Instead of trying to bolster American jobs, the Admin is concentrating on "fast tracking" the TPP thru which appears to kill American jobs among other destruction for the lower classes.
The D vs. R choice is simple. The Progressive D vs. the Conservative D, is a much hard choice.

(114,904 posts)if you ever stop playing cut and paste and/or parroting back what another has said, I might consider it.
I will as you question, however:
Do you think it's reasonable to draw conclusions about the President's trade priorities from these appointments?
Rex
(65,616 posts)but alas no such attempt has been made. Not just pro, but about 5 or 6 others as well. As long as they like a black and white world, there will be no debate.

(114,904 posts)they would. Instead they're going with bankrupt "you hate him" crap. Admit that these appointments indicate something about the President's trade policies and priorities? Never. They love him too much to allow for criticism.

(55,981 posts)Blindly follow your parents, teachers, police, armed service, boss, President, etc. makes life easier for the authoritarian leaders and the authoritarian followers. This is usually a conservative trait. Liberals/progressives often fight among themselves as they resist the conformity demanded by our authoritarian leaders.
It's easy to see that when a master authoritarian like Clapper demands complete power in exchange for a "promise" of security, who the authoritarian followers are. They are more than willing to give up their freedoms and liberties for that "promise" of security. Hitler convinced a whole country.
