From his wife:I saw Christopher Green for another date to see the Ohio State Buckeyes unfortunately lose by a hair.
I am very upset, because I have seen he has posted things in here. What in the world is going on? It is hurtful to see that - I think you all know how much I would love if he could post in Facebook or anything. But how?
I am going for the Oscars, because we love to watch it, me more than Chris. I asked him if he wanted me to come for it and he did. Another date!
He had a bronchoscopy and they also took a biopsy of his new lungs on Friday. He has had a high temp last weekend and they haven't been able to find out why.
From me, CaliforniaPeggy: I think she's upset because she knows he used to post on Facebook and now he can't. His fingers just aren't working well enough.

(12,799 posts)I so hope for a quick recovery for WC. I miss his blog updates.
It would be disconcerting to see someone posting under his name. I hope that's not what's happening.

(149,563 posts)I don't think that's what she means. I suspect that she's just wishing he could post again, the way he used to. He just can't right now, as I said in the OP.
If I talk to her soon, I'll ask her for clarification. She has a lot on her plate (more than her husband's illness) and so I think she may not be expressing herself as clearly as she normally does.

(37,449 posts)if he isn't intubated get him a mouth stick...I'd imagine he's got lots to say.

(149,563 posts)But he can't do enough of his own breathing at this point, so he is still intubated.

(53,339 posts)You can talk with that if you put your finger over the opening, but it is laborious and tiring.

(149,563 posts)I don't think his doctors want him doing that.

(53,339 posts)But being trached did give me a nice story to tell...
When our medevac plane from Japan full of VN casualties landed at Travis AFB in CA, we were met by women of the Red Cross' Hospital Service Branch who promised a free phone call home for every wounded troop.
I couldn't talk with my trache, so the Red Cross woman called my Mom for me.
Not long after that phone call, another patient showed me how I could cover my trache opening with my finger to talk. And when the Red Cross woman saw that, she said "You're getting another phone call!" And she dialed the number and put me on the phone with my Mom.

(16,371 posts)It doesn't sound like he's ready for that yet but going forward, once he's managing without constant motivation, they might want to ask about it. My mother had one and it made a huge difference for her. Her frustration and fear level were greatly reduced because she could speak for herself again. I can only I imagine how awful it must be to be unable to communicate verbally.
Thank you for keeping us informed on his progress. He's very much missed at DU

(149,563 posts)As do I................and it will be a long process.

(149,563 posts)One of her friends pointed out that people will click on something that Chris has commented on in the past and it regenerates, recirculates.
And so it looks as though they are posting under his name, when they aren't.
