whether Obamacare succeeds or fails, the right loses

If Obamacare succeeds, the right has already screwed themselves by labeling it "Obamacare," thus giving him sole credit for a program people came to like.

If Obamacare fails, progressives will have a powerful argument for taking private insurance out of the equation altogether or at least giving people the option of a robust public option like Medicare for All.

The second option depends on enough Democrats in Congress putting progressive values and public opinion ahead of campaign contributions from insurance companies and inbred, morally degenerate trust fund babies, but stranger things have happened.

I don't think it will completely fail. At worst, it will be viewed as not doing enough yurbud Mar 2014 #2

If it fails, then Progressives will not have much of a case for single payer.

Think of it this way, most people will, imagine you have a car. Your car needs an oil change. You take your car to a mechanic, who changes the oil and pronounces your car in great shape. You drive away, unaware that the mechanic has not replaced the plug properly. Your car runs out of oil, the engine siezes because of a predictable and preventable error on the mechanic's part.

Would you take the car back to that Mechanic to have the engine rebuilt? No, you would not. You would never return to that mechanic, and you would advise others to avoid him.

If a Doctor left an instrument inside of you during the surgery. Would you go to that Doctor to remove the item or would you seek someone else to correct whatever else the Doctor did wrong?

If Obamacare fails, Democrats and Progressives will have at least a decade, perhaps more, before people forget that the biggest revolution in Civil Rights, the right to medical care, failed under their plan. No one will listen, and no one will trust the Democratic Party on the issue. It will take time, a lot of time, before people forget and begin to listen and consider the arguments again.

No. The ACA has to be successful so we can build on it. Failure means they'll turn to the Republicans to "fix" it.

and in that case, progressive can point to the conservative Heritage Foundation as the true mother and Obama as at best, the adoptive father.
