Just on a little crazy note, in my county, I heard that there is a law being proposed

to ban fast food places because they cause pollution from all the cars driving there. We live under a nuclear plant right now, as an aside. No one is worried. So I really thought about it. I thought, good, let's get mom and pop places arise and get rid of McDs and such. The city in question is a college town. They employ students. But then I started thinking, where are poor people going to work and eat. They don't want any fast food places, even mom and pops. I don't understand.

They don't want poor people either so if the poor all have to leave it's a win-win n/t Fumesucker Mar 2014 #1

Fast food joints bring around the wrong sort, you know. But it's really about all the pollution they cause.

Are they targeting bank drive-in windows too? I suspect not.

So that isn't an issue. So if you want a hamburger or taco you have to walk in as it is.

I used to live near an In&Out Burger and every weekday at lunch there would be a 20-30 car line for almost two hours. Lots of wasted fuel and extra pollution.

on drive-throughs. The city I'm talking about is up road from mine but we aren't banning fast food places. Our economy would collapse if we did because we rely mainly on tourism.

And so you know, so is 99% of the hate some liberals have for WalMart. They always have some other excuse of course, but on examination their reasons melt like candyfloss in the hands of a toddler.

Must get kind of claustrophobic as well.

I think it's weird than anyone thought of it. It would make more sense to me to ban national chain fast food places to encourage more mom and pop places. I also think it's a bogus excuse. Most people park to do shopping and go to the fast food places as part of their trip. It's not going to cut down on traffic. Since this is a college town, many already are on foot or bicycle and of course the homeless, if they have cars, probably sleep in them rather than drive them, especially with gas at almost $4 a gallon in this area.
