LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- A magnitude 6.9 quake struck Sunday night off the coast of Northern California, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The quake was 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) underground and was centered 77 kilometers west-by-northwest of the town of Ferndale, the USGS said. No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
