Judge Napolitano is full of it

Slavery was on its way out, my ass. Is he stupid or completely sick? Absolute garbage pulled out of his ass.

How do you go from something "on its way out" to the South forcibly resisting its abolition, Einstein?

Presumedly, if something is naturally "on its way out", it would follow, calls and measures to abolish its practice would not inspire much resistance (and later civil war) from a population increasingly, as you claim, open to ending the institution of slavery.

What a total crap peddler.

what his load of crap served. This is definitely for the far right - southern strategy folks. Is this supposed to ease guilt and give the south a symbolic victory or what.

He is so wrong on the history it is amazing he actually wrote this garbage.

The Constitution outlawed the importation of slaves in 1808, not the trade in slaves within the country itself. Nor was slavery on its way out by 1860: the people living in Bleeding Kansas would beg to differ. And the Confederate Constitution specifically calls out the protection of negro (sic) slavery.

Crap peddler doesn't even come close.

seems to be why did Lincoln not financially compensate the south so they would give up their slaves. ????? Excuse me. The statement assumes the slavers could have been compensated. Should not the only people compensated at the end of slavery be the slaves themselves. You know because THEY WERE ENSLAVED FOR 400YEARS! The whole question of should Lincoln have compensated the Southerners moves the debate away from actual reality into a never neverland where the Southerner slave owners were horribly grieved by Lincoln's actions and to debate the issue on that basis gives it legitimacy. It is a push poll to keep the Southern base still fighting the civil war and still horribly put out by the north. No surprize a meme like this comes out just as 12 years a slave wins the oscars. Grrrrt

If Lincoln compensated the slave owners, as Napolitano explicitly suggested he do, that is saying that human beings should be recognized as the property of others and as a product. Napolitano is EXPLICITLY saying human beings should be treated as property! He accepts that premise when he proposes that slave owners should have been compensated for "their" slaves!

How could someone be so incredibly stupid and racist and get away with it?

Why are people not demanding Napoloitano be fired from Fox?

But once you have Coulter defending McCarthyism I think this is the next logical step.

It is a backwards strategy; it's holding onto the south while pretending the rest of us don't exist. What you need to ask Napolitano or any neo-Confederate fuck is how proud they are that their ancestors killed Northerners for the right to preserve slavery.

People have to be totally asleep to think " Well, slavery was bad but Lincoln should have monetarily compensated the slave owners to free the slaves..."...

...because, after all, the slaves were their property!!??

O my freaking god! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
