So while many folks here are arguing about Hillary/Bernie/Warren 2016....

GOPers just scooped up an important district in the swing state of Florida...

...with Koch money of course.

Republicans WANT you distracted. They would love nothing more.

Don't take the bait.

I should admit that smart analysts predicted the result with one number. Two-hundred thousand. If that many ballots showed up in FL-13, Democrats were hitting their turnout models and winning the race. If fewer, they were losing. There were about 180,000 votes cast in the race, and the Democrats lost.

spending Sink may still show a slight advantage but there was big money from outside groups, dark money ad SuperPacs.

From WaPo:

GOP groups rallied to Jolly's side, spending some $5 million in an effort to narrow the financial gap, compared to about $3.75 million from Democratic organizations.

And as much as I hate to see the republicans have the seat - it could make a good rallying call for voters to 'not stay at home' in November.

The republicans have held that seat for decades, it isn't surprising that they hung on to it.

I know I got a lot of emails asking me to support her.

I mean if you're here waggling your finger at us, I have to assume you made some herculean effort to sink Jolly as well? In a district, might I add, that had a Republican in the seat for three decades? Where the Democrat challenger wasn't exactly a strong candidate in the first place?

Listening to me, in fact, is known to cure most major forms of ignorance.

For instance, you think that talking about stuff on DU cost Sink the election. However, he overwhelming majority of DU'ers weren't eligible to vote in that election, anyway. Some of us are on the diametrically opposite side of the continent, in fact. Our posting or reading habits bore absolutely no relevance whatsoever to that election

There. Your ignorance is cured. All it took was ten seconds. I don't even charge for this stuff!

Here's another one:

You have absolutely no OP's about this race, yourself. You have lots of shit-slinging about Putin and Snowden and other DU'ers (all one and the same, apparently), buuuuuut diddle-fucking squat about the Sink v. Jolly race. If it's DU's fault that Sink lost, you are very absolutely a big cause of the problem. Thus you have no base from which to criticize.

Again! Enlightenment! I can keep up all day.

In fact my magical ignorance-lifting abilities are why I/P is my go-to group. But, you'll notice that GD is my "favorite forum," with three times the posts in the last 90 days. So... again. More ignorance evaporates like ether on hot pavement!

Actually, I was wrong. Other than focusing on Israel/Palestine, you're really good at slinging insults at DUers.

Arguing with you is a complete waste of time because you really have no interest in discussing issues other than Israel/Palestine. You may pretend to care about other issues, but you really don't.

Very similar to the gunners on DU.

You pretty much focus on only one issue.

Waste. Of. Time.

Tell me again how everyone posting on DU cost Sink the election? Except for yourself, since your habit of perpetually making posts where you call everyone else pro-Putin, Assad-loving, Democrat-hating sufferers of "ODS" who worship at the altar of Snowden and Greenwald apparently contributed to Sink's numbers somehow?

Here's a tip. If you don't want people to throw your own BS back into your face, maybe you shouldn't start OP's whose sole purpose is to fling said feces.

Funny how you accuse me of flinging feces. I focus on a lot of topics in my OP's, you just seem to be more attracted to my posts about Putin and Snowden.

Your sole purpose on DU is to fling feces at people who disagree with you about Israel/Palestine. I've seen your posts about that subject and I just chuckle.

Just like how the gunners attack people who disagree with their views.

Waste. Of. Time.

Like here, where you accuse Du of costing a Democrat the election in a staunchly Republican Florida district, where he was outspent and frankly outcampaigned. But it's DU's fault. because some of us are thinking about who might run as a candidate for 2016. Because boy howdy if there's one thing democrats can't do, it's walk and chew gum. Which is why you obviously feel the need to "set us straight." ...Even though by your own argument you're as much if not more a part of the problem than those you are recriminating.

And please. Feel free to contribute to I/P threads. It's always refreshing to get new voices. Granted, it'll take time away from you constantly attacking other DU'ers, but hey. Might be fun anyway

31. Sink outspent Jolly by about 3-1.
Wed Mar 12, 2014, 03:18 PM
Mar 2014

A majority of donations to Jolly came from Congressmen.

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20140312/DACFR78G0.html

While Republicans held the congressional seat for four decades until Young's death last year, the district's voters favored Obama in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. The district is 37 percent Republican, 35 percent Democrat and 24 percent independent.

Sink outspent Jolly by more than 3 to 1 on television advertising, though outside groups aligned with the GOP helped narrow the overall Democratic advantage.

And let's not forget the effect of all that money.

"I stopped watching television because the ads were driving me crazy," said William McConnell, a 72-year-old forensic accountant and lifelong Republican. "It was packed with lies on both sides." He cast his ballot for Overby as a protest vote.
