A bunch of talking heads on this morning on MSNBC whining about the Sink loss in FL and "what a trend" it is for Democrats and how hard a road they have ahead of them in 2014.
That was a GOP held seat for 30 fucking years people.
We were not supposed to win that seat.
Them not saying it just means they are bad at being the "liberal TV news network"
Enough with your case of the vapors MSNBC

(1,850 posts)sink outspent Jolly something like 4 to 1, and it was a district tht Obama won twice. Don't know what that means, but it doesn't mean it should have been a slam-dunk for Jolly.

(4,846 posts)I love seeing people get mad about MSNBComcast. It's a corporate "news" station, they need a story line to keep people watching and to keep advertisers happy. It is hardly a legitimate journalism outlet.
We're talking about the same station that breaks away for the latest Justin Bieber news. Turn that garbage off.

(1,451 posts)And actually heard Mika read a line where she said DemocrAT instead of the grammatically correct DemocratiIC. But that show is a weird piece of republican propaganda on a liberal network, due to Joe Scarborough's friendship with his executives. That's why they don't fire him, as the should have long ago if they were true to their principles. There is so much to say about our favorite liberal network, from scary prison shows, to ads telling you to prepare for a funeral at 40 shown many times during the day. There is some awful social engineering being done for the po' folks, middle, working, and poor classes is what it looks like. Live a short life, get to work, don't really question the establishment, and remember who your moral superiors are, the grand old party, as they love to say.

(49,827 posts)The only reason they are a "liberal" network is because the market wouldn't support another conservative one. People forget how they used to air Ann Coulter, Tucker Carlson, Micheal Savage, etc. but they fired Phil Donahue. It's about the $$$.

Chris Matthews on Bush and Iraq:
""He won the war. He was an effective commander. Everybody recognizes that, I believe, except a few critics."
"He looks for real. ... [H]e didn't fight in a war, but he looks like he does. ... We're proud of our president. ... Women like a guy who's president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president."
Before Bush had even delivered his November 30, 2005, speech at the U.S. Naval Academy laying out a "Strategy for Victory in Iraq," Matthews used variations of the word "brilliant" twice to describe it, while deriding Democratic critics of the Iraq war as "carpers and complainers."
On the July 31 edition of Hardball, Matthews stated that if Democratic critics recognize that Bush made a "smart decision" to invade Iraq, then Bush "deserves to have a place in history" because "[y]ou can't say he did the right thing but he didn't quite do it right."

(18,581 posts)They want a network that reinforces every leftist view they hold, whether it's realistic or not.
In the case of this post about the election in Florida, I don't have enough information to hold an opinion, but I don't think I want my news with a slant that leads me to believe in fantasies, much like how Fox viewers were shocked when Romney went down in flames. The network faithful were fed a line of BS for months about how it would be Romney in a landslide, because that's what they wanted to hear, and Fox dutifully delivered. I don't want an otherwise credible outlet to do that for my sake.
As Joe Friday would say: "Just the facts ma'am", and I'll take it from there. Of course there are shows on MSNBC that espouse liberal views, and I'm gratefully entertained by them, but I don't consider that "news" and I don't mind hearing from the other side as long as there's rebuttal.
Remember Rachel Maddow's "Uncle Pat" Buchanan?

(18,581 posts)CNN's HLN channel delivers the headlines over and over for people waiting to see the optometrist, but the other alphabets have to keep us tuned in at home. That format has led to an unusual development over my many years.
I understand what you mean though. It gets often overwhelming as well as frustrating when I witness unchallenged ignorance on a news show. Thank goodness for Big Bang Theory reruns and the Velocity channel.

(27,787 posts)for winning elections in 2014, for the GOP I mean.
Regularly on MSNBC, and CNN you see a GOP pundit attack the Democrats for something, and then the MSNBC host jumps to a Dem pundit, who is asked about how upset the left is about the same thing, just for different reasons.
Take the ACA ... ask the GOP talking head about how socialistical it is ... then ask the Dem talking head to discuss how the left is pissed because the ACA is not medicare for all.
Either way, the point is that the ACA is evil ... either too socialist, too corporatist. Anger the right, discourage the left, manipulate turnout.

(27,787 posts)realize that they are helping to amplify a message that discourages turnout. But some of them are doing it intentionally, knowing that many people come to a site like this but never post a word, just read.
If you can discourage some of them, that plus the other efforts to suppress the vote (ID laws, less early voting, so on), you can get the couple % points you need to win an election that your ideas should lose.

PROBLEM at least for me, you have pay extra for these channels. My husband wants his SPORTS so we've had DISH for many years! And don't let them fool you, the price does go up by increments. Still DISH seems to offer best package for us, even though I've had my "conversations" with them or maybe just say "tirades". If I scream loud enough I usually get some concessions for a while.

(5,376 posts)I don't watch the morning shows, although I hear Ronan Farrow is doing pretty good, and I'm liking Joy Reid. But I'm grateful for the afternoon/evening (here on the West Coast) lineup, and will continue to watch. Has anyone watched Al Jazeera lately? I do every now and then, and think they do a good job with the news. Have always liked David Shuster and John Siegenthaler, who are among Al J's commentators. Anyway, I'll stick with the MSNBC shows I like and won't consign them to hell-fire and brimstone because of how they spin the recent FL election results. Maybe it'll get some Dems attention about the importance of actually voting this year.

(750 posts)about MSNBC the adrenalin starts to make me think about something to add to the conversation.
Ever since I found out Andrea Mitchell is the wife of former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Allen Greenspan creates a furry that just trips me out to no end. Such a miserable advantage to news anchor telecasting, considering Andrea is likely privy to trillion dollar secret deals over the last decades. It is absolutely incredible to think Andrea Mitchell does not steer the market through real time signaling in her telecasting.
Another one that Mika Brzezinski daughter of a political insider, Big-news or, Zbigniew Brzezinski and worse has a brother as key player in the Booze Allen Hamilton public relations company that is the soul contractor of this new age Metadata problem Snowden was wondering about. (3,171 posts)I've been watching this particular election closely for a number of reasons. For those that were *actually* paying attention, keep in mind that this district has been trending Democratic for a while now. It also went to the President in both elections, and to Alex Sink in the Gubernatorial election. All the polls had her leading by a few percentage points all through the cycle, and finally she outspent her opponent 4-1 in ad buys. Add to this that a Libertarian took nearly 5 points from the Repuke, and you can see the danger here if we try to spin this.
hrmjustin is right. We need to take serous heed here and work twice as hard to get out the vote. This was never a *safe* Repuke seat. As a matter of fact, we should have won it. If we sit on our hands come November, the same thing is going to repeat itself all over the country.
Don't fall for the spin, get out and work hard for our candidates.

Why, do you suppose Corporate Media would want to do that?
As I said before--ignore "them", turn it off, toss mailers in the garbage, "junk" emails and hang up on robo-calls.
It is Our responsibility to vet candidates and evaluate the situations/trends in our Own communities. Get involved with your local Party, attend county commissioners meetings and lobby the Hell out of all you elected officials. That's where the (our focus/work) work Needs to be done and That is How the TP took over the GOP.
It will, however, require us all to get involved and do the work.

It's unbelievable that people are no longer talking about lthe corruption that is rampant in this country as votes are being turned at every election, most of the time just enough so that they win. I have democratic children who only talk politics right before they go to vote (at least they tell me they do) Their world consists of work, cellphones, kindle, computers and games, and HBO's Game of Thrones. It is impossible to get their attention for longer than about 5 minutes. At that point, they gotta see a text, write a text of check their fb.
