(4,867 posts)American Postal Workers Union president Mark Dimondstein says the administration budget echoes misguided policies
for severe cutbacks that will harm service, drive away business, and eliminate jobs.
With democrats like Obama, who needs republicans?

(1,903 posts)More jobs lost and "shift from at-the-door delivery of mail to a scheme that would force Americans to go and collect letters and packages from central delivery spots." So I have to go somewhere to pick up my mail now? Good F'n greif.

(12,977 posts)It's a lot different from living in a small down or on a rural road.

(31,923 posts)What do people do for that? Starve? What is being proposed is central points which would be the same distance as apartments. In apartments I have lived I walked one or two blocks to the mailroom. Big deal.

(1,903 posts)We don't all live in apartments.

(31,923 posts)The central mail points will be the same distance as the mailboxes that apartment dwellers go to.

(1,903 posts)Some apartments have mailboxes as you walk in the door to the building. Some are located at a main office building. How will a house on a street 400 yards from the next house have that?
Did you see some plans on how this will be implemented? You can defend this all you want it's BS. If we can deliver bombs on the other side of the world we can deliver mail to homes in our own country just like we have for hundreds of years.

(31,923 posts)You are trying to drag the Post Office back into the 19th. The mail is mostly junk anyway. Anything important comes over the internet. If there is some hermit living in a cabin deep in the woods should the post office be forced to deliver to him also?

(1,903 posts)to use the post office for receiving goods we order. And don't be an ass I know what year it is. I am not the one trying to change to USPS so I'm not dragging it anywhere. You on the other hand.

(47,953 posts)Just pisses off one traditionally democratic support group. Does nothing to build Republican support, because there is literally nothing he could do to accomplish that. But I am beginning to think, this is a reflection of his real philosophy. His priorities lie elsewhere.
