Utah Officials Call on Feds to Investigate Senators Reid, Lee

Two local prosecutors in Utah say a corruption investigation looking at state politicians and online gambling interests has yielded evidence that could implicate Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, and Senator Mike Lee, R-Utah.

The two district attorneys – one Democrat and one Republican – already working with a team of FBI agents, are urging federal prosecutors to pick up the case and investigate – something the Department of Justice has thus far declined to do.

The Utah officials say the evidence relates to suspect campaign contributions and other financial transactions.

Could? So there is no real evidence as of yet. Just a maybe. This is a little suspicious. Why release a story involving Reid, including a Republican for good measure, right before the 2014 election? Suspect campaign contributions have tainted the majority of Senators. Most just return them and it's never heard of again. If it is influence pedaling it's wrong and should be dealt with but influence pedaling seems to be the norm in Washington these days. I have no real money, along with most people, so my influence is nil.

If Reid has committed a crime he should be prosecuted. Maybe a stronger Democratic will take his place.

Harry Reid and Mike Lee would be running in the same political circles, or that they'd be stupid enough to overtly break campaign laws (mainily because they both have mega donations), one thing is clear, this story doesn't hurt the Republican party. Let's not fall for the "well the investigation is bi-partisan" bologna.
