NBC Today Show TV interview with Jerry Sandusky's wife an insult to his victims

NBC Today Show TV interview with Jerry Sandusky's wife an insult to his victims

Almost two years ago, a jury in Bellefonte, Pa., listened to eight days of evidence and testimony, much of it from eight boys turned men who fought through tears and suppressed anger to deliver emotional, first-hand accounts of being sexually assaulted at the hands of Jerry Sandusky.

The jurors poured through everything, including defense arguments and cross-examinations, for a day and a half and finally declared Sandusky guilty of 45 counts of various degrees of abuse. Sandusky, now 70, was sentenced to 30 to 60 years behind bars.

An appeal by Sandusky for a new trial went nowhere and an appeal of that appeal is, legal experts believe, likely to find the same fate. Meanwhile, Sandusky sits isolated for 23 hours a day in a Western Pennsylvania prison cell, running out the clock on his sorry life.

Sadly, that hasn't stopped his family's ability to continue to attack his victims.

On Tuesday, NBC's "Today" show sent Matt Lauer to State College to give Dottie Sandusky, Jerry's wife, a nationally broadcasted forum. It allowed her, without too much counterpoint, to accuse her husband's prey of actually being the ones who committed heinous crimes.

This BS has to stop. If the media is going to let anybody spout baseless accusations they need to have people on who can rebut these claims.
If NBC is on some crusade with the Sandusky 'truthers' to free a supposedly innocent man, then put up the evidence NOW!
Only 2 groups are served by this hot mess. Those who claim Sandusky is innocent and NBC for ratings.
JUST.STOP.NOW!
I don't mean censor Dottie or anybody else. However, don't let this bullshit pass without the other side being given a chance for rebuttal right then. A rebuttal broadcast later on will not get the same number of people watching.

As for as Sandusky he should be allowed one courtesy to be allowed to rot in jail alone forgotten and discredited. The institution of learning that enabled this monster for all time should include prevention of this abuse in their curriculum along with the story of how they allowed it to happen as their real legacy.

I have reasons to despise pedophiles.

Anyone whose powers of denial are so strong that her conscious mind couldn't figure out what her husband was doing with all those kids in the basement has a mental illness, in my opinion. Mrs. Sandusky is fucked up, and shouldn't be brought on tv to discuss her imaginary life.

If the producers aren't going to bring on representation for the victims, then the interviewer needs to be prepared to speak the truth to Sandusky's other victim, his wife, who enabled him.

doing the interview. I think all she really cares about is money, the very thing she's accusing those victims of. She wants to keep the lifestyle she's been accustomed to and she's afraid all the lawsuits are going to eat up all of their savings.

I didnt see it or even hear of it till I saw it here on DU, but what the hell?

This is one case where I would honestly say, to the amazement of everyone here, "Put her on O'Reilly's show" THAT episode would be something.

Pope Francis on the unfair treatment given his group's child abusers:
"No-one else has done more. Yet the Church is the only one to have been attacked"
See, it's the Church being attacked.
"The statistics on the phenomenon of violence against children are shocking, but they also clearly show that the great majority of abuses are carried out in family or neighbourhood environments."

See it is terrible, but...others do it as well.

"The founder of the US-based website, BishopAccountability.org, Terence McKiernan, was more direct in his criticism, complaining that the Pope had not merely failed to apologise to the children who had been abused but had not even expressed sorrow.

"It is astonishing, at this late date, that Pope Francis would recycle such tired and defensive rhetoric," he said.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26448075

But I understand many here feel some groups are exempt from criticism. I do think they should know that many others see Francis as Mrs Sandusky's moral equal, same thing only a thousand fold.

Well, female sex offenders. He interviews them in cozy, warmly-lit settings like a conversation in his living room. It makes perfect sense that he would give the wife of a sex offender the same royal treatment.

This shows the lengths people will go to in order to rationalize and justify criminal, pathological behavior, especially this kind. To say that, as an example, that adults showered with kids back when Sandusky was young is complete and utter bullshit. Anyone with any kind of moral compass and basic sense of right and wrong knows that to be completely and utterly false. But the twisted thinking kicks in and sees it all as: 1) a big misunderstanding; 2) ultimately harmless; 3) a big money grab on the part of people who lied; 4) they don't know Jerry like I know Jerry; and so on and so forth.

People who have survived abuse at the hands of priests have been putting up with this same clap-trap for years.

I could have told you exactly what Dottie Sandusky was going to say even before I knew this interview was coming. She's in massive denial and always will be. So be it. It's time, yet again, to take the focus off the offender and on to his victims, where it truly belongs.

The Sanduskys are not worth ANYONE'S time.

Would the Today Show -- this far removed from the actual events -- provide a forum on live television to simply allow Sandusky's victims to go on and on about what a monster he is? Not on your life. But the fallacy of False Equivalency says that Sandusky wife MUST be allowed to "clear her husband's name" by slandering his victims.

And there's one more thing: Children + Sex = Ratings

most likely is culpable. I want to also know what happened to his computer. I dont believe he could have erased all trace of evidence that was most likely there. I think there were others involved that are being protected. I know it's a conspiracy theory but I think it's too incredible for him to act alone.
