You know that movie, Sex, Lies and Videotape? "I can't stop thinking about garbage"

That's a line spoken by Andi McDowell. She's in her shrink's office and she goes off on this riff about how worried she is about garbage and where will it all go when we run out of room for it, etc.

That's how I feel about fracking. They just keep expanding it. I worry about how many new wells are starting operation every day. I worry about where the billions of gallons of waste fluids go.

A lot of stuff seems insane to me, but the fracking boom is like a whole different level of insane, as far as I understand it. How crazy is it to exempt oil and gas drillers from Safe Water and Clean Air Acts? How crazy is it to not regulate these guys? How crazy is it that the poisonous slurry of chemicals that they pump into the wells is proprietary information?

I just had to rant.

The process wastes water to poison water. What the hell are people going to drink?

And the director was actually saying something about.... garbage. In any case, it was a reference used to make the point that this is an issue which gets covered over and which we don't really address, policy wise in the party. Why aren't democrats in Congress calling for revoking exemptions oil and gas producers, etc.

But then I don't want you to worry your, uh, head about actual issues.

Clearly, making personal attacks tarted up in snark is more important. I understand, dear.

I think that left a mark.

Fracking waste is toxic and can't really be used for anything anymore than nuclear waste can be. Even if the process wasn't destructive and dirty to begin with, it produces toxic waste and that alone should be a reason to stop it.

they get richer. Someone has to be the first trillionaire, after all, and that's the most important thing in the world, more important than health and reason and the exploration of our universe.
