NEW YORK The historic potential of the digital revolution has always had less to do with the cool new things we can do with all those gadgets, and more to do with how they will disrupt business models in ways that dramatically lower prices and increase consumer choice. And as I discovered on a recent trip, two industries that are in the early stages of disruption are eyeglasses and razor blades.

(1,935 posts)... Eyeglass companies advertise glasses at two pairs for $70.00 with a free exam. But, after a bunch of "discounts," you end up paying more like $700.00!

(669 posts)I used to use Gillette razors until I discovered Harry's - the blades are of very high quality and cheaper than buying Gillette blades at CVS.

(16,038 posts)And ordered a Harrys razor. Just shaved off a weeks growth. ..worked great. The razor racket has been a pet peeve of mine for years, I will keep buying Harrys at $1.30 per blade screw Gillette.
