Mistreated Walmart Employees Speak Out Against Company

http://www.thestreet.com/story/12532764/1/pictures-and-employee-emails-that-make-me-think-walmart-is-about-to-implode.html

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- As I have noted in recent days, the response to my recent Wal-Mart Stores (WMT_) stories has been nothing short of overwhelming.

It all started with 24 Pictures From a Walmart Store That Make Sears Look Classy.

A considerable portion of it comes from readers who work at Walmart. Many of the emails I have received from Walmart employees, independent of one another, corroborate one another. I'll publish a representative sampling in this article.

Of course, I keep identities anonymous if that was what was requested. In other cases, I mention specific stores but do not include details that would out specific individuals.

Walmart expects one associate to do the job of ten people. The backroom of my store was overflowing with freight and when a customer asked me if we had anything in the back that they wanted, I automatically had to tell them no because I would never be able to find it in the back.

It's a deplorable store and I wish to god people would quit shopping there.

These supposedly shocking images are nothing compared to the nonsense I see every time at every store. That's the norm. I've seen them line up their pallets so tight you can only cross over the walls at the ends of the store. Every time I go they are always out of at least a third of the items I came for. Sadly, they have no competitors.

My exception to the article is the employee quotes. First of all, I don't see workers flayed to the bone by slave driver bosses, not even close. I see Walmart workers idly wandering around at quarter speed, unsupervised, just going through the motions and phoning it in. Pride? Sense of urgency? The only professionals in the store are working the registers. And no, I don't really care that a job is hard work, or that your boss doesn't want to hear your complaints... do your fucking job, prove you can do that, and maybe then people will want to hear from you.
