Here in CA the more income you earn the less subsidy you get. If you earn less then a certain amount you get expanded medicare.
In red states that did not accept expanded medicare, what happens to those that would have gotten it? Are they expected to buy from the exchange?
I'm sure the reason Rethuglican's didn't accept expanded medicare is purely political but how? How can they expect to gain votes for denying healthcare?

(39,343 posts)I was on Medicaid for one month before my share of cost went from making me responsible for the first $307 (and the state would pay all my other expenses) to $3700 share of cost. I barely get a thousand on disability. I cannot afford (nor luckily do I have $3k monthly expenses).
Basically, when the red states didnt take federal funding, Medicaid went away or very far out of reach. That just leaves us to try to find a deal from an insurance company. I couldnt find a good deal and will have to coast along until I get Medicare towards the end of this year.
I cant wait to vote pRick Scott out of office here in November

(579 posts)and dumb Perry didn't expand Medicaid, so those people:
In Texas, if the state chooses not to expand its services, almost two million people may be stuck in limbowithout access to Medicaid, but too poor for the subsidies.

I guess these people will have to use the ER, like they used to. Shows just how ignorant Republicans and their leaders are....this was money the Feds were going to provide, and they turned it down. Stupid Republicans in the mix will still vote Republican....go figure.

Mr.Bill
(24,242 posts)because their state didn't accept the federal money to expand it, the Republicans running for office will simply blame it on Obamacare. And the wingnuts will believe it. At the very least, Democratic candidates will be forced to spend a fortune in advertising to spread the truth.
It must be remembered that very few voters are as informed as most of us are on this forum. The fact is, most people are sadly uninformed and can be swayed by 30 second TV ads by candidates and sound bites taken out of context on Fox News.
