Not the Civil War.
We know the North won.
I mean the propaganda war.
Many Southerners refer not to the Civil War, but the "War Of Northern Aggression."
"Roots" and "12 Years A Slave" are more the exception than the rule.
"Duck Dynasty" stars look back fondly at the days pre-civil rights.
Texas schoolbooks are constantly being revised (or attempted to revise) to say slavery wasn't so bad.

(2,004 posts)The money being spent by the Koch brothers and their John Birch Society and other propaganda organs like the State Policy Network is an all out attempt to keep us off balance. We have really got to get smarter at getting our message out. We need to get progressives to run for school boards and township trustees again. That is where we are getting beaten.
Very thought provoking post. Thanks!

However, I have heard lots of people downplay the evils of slavery, and some people even
believe that the slavetraders and slaveowners did the slaves a favor by bringing them to
the US and enslaving them. I can't see how anybody can believe something so fucking
stupid.
