Why Some Humans Are Born With Tails (Original Post)

OP
Warpy
(111,237 posts)1. Well, we all are
but in most of us it is short and curves forward and stays internal. There is one nerve root originating in the coccyx, so it's not 100% vestigial. Most people who find out they have a tail are women who have had it broken during labor. It's not much of a bone set but it is exquisitely painful.
Lanugo is most commonly seen in preemies and falls off fairly quickly. It's too bad, keeping a preemie warm is critical and a fur coat might help.
