The threat

The threat is not noted balloon-like blowhard Chris Christie.

The thread is not senatorial fuckwit Ted Cruz.

The threat is Rand Paul and his insane demons in his mind and his simian pancake bellowing.

He's the threat because of his appeal to the mindless and I don't really need to remind everyone what happened the last time a monkey was elected President.

Wash, rinse, repeat. The threat is Rand Paul.

The trouble with Rand is that the Conservative Money Men as well as most of the power brokers in the Repub party don't really like him any more than they did his dad. He's a loose cannon, and more of a Libertarian than a conservative republican. His ideas on foreign policy are anathema to the rest of his party, and he has NO hope of gaining significant Hispanic support, which they are convinced they need.

I think he will win landslide victories in straw polls and the like, reminiscent of Ron, and then be treated like the embarassing relative at the holiday dinner by his party at the debates and in the media, resulting in lower than expected numbers in the early primaries as the PTB in the party try to consolidate behind someone they think could win. The trouble is I don't see a Romney or anyone else on the horizon to fill that role. Jeb maybe. Maybe even Huckabee if he takes another stab at it. That's about it.

If no one else steps forward yeah, Rand could win in spite of all that is against him. If things start to gain momentum in that direction it will be amusing to watch the Repubs as they get increasingly desperate to find a challenger.

I was absolutely convinced that Bush could never win an election because he was such an obvious phony-"Texan", such a complete fuckwit, such an absolute tool.

I might have been half-right, but he got close enough that the political machine was able to wedge him into office.

Rand Paul may seem like a total loser to us, but he's still electable in these Corporate States of America; we'd better not forget it and we most certainly should fear it.

George Bush nearly destroyed this country and did incalculable damage, Paul will certainly finish the job.

Easy fix for Democrats.

Stop pandering to the corporate One Percent with private prisons and draconian drug policies. Be the party that not only ends the outrageous drug wars, but also reins in Wall Street, ends the surveillance state, restores our Constitution, reduces inequality, and STRENGTHENS social safety nets.

Third Way Democrats would not have to worry about fringe Libertarians at all if they would crawl out of their corporate Masters' pockets for long enough to own the issues they SHOULD own.
