10,000 gallon pipeline spill in Southwest Ohio

Not far from John "What, me regulate?" Boehner, as it happens: http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSL2N0MF0I520140318?irpc=932

"March 18 (Reuters) - Clean-up operations began on Tuesday after a major oil pipeline owned by Sunoco Logistics Partners LP leaked hundreds of barrels of crude oil into a nature preserve next to the Great Miami River in southwest Ohio.

Crews vacuumed oil that had leaked from the Mid-Valley pipeline into a wetland area of the Oak Glen Nature Preserve, 20 miles (32 km) north of Cincinnati, according to local officials.

The leak was discovered at 8:20 p.m. EDT on Monday (0020 GMT Tuesday) and the line was shut around 1 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sunoco said. It was unclear if any oil was still spewing from the pipe.

It's also interesting that the pipeline had been laid before the nature preserve was established. I guess the thinking was "Out of sight, out of mind,"

almost 5 hours later? WTF?

I thought these things were safe and had 'safety features' that prevented these kinds of things?

the months of uncontrolled flow in the Gulf when BP employed their 'safety features'.

Progress!

(And I'm down here in SW Ohio, roughly 30 odd miles north of cinci, along the river, so I'm not thrilled, although I think this particular leak was still a bit downstream. I'm just glad we're not a great area for fracking.)

The gop wants clean water for themselves!

8 cities are applying to host the Republican convention in 2016. Here’s a look at each one.
