Rand Paul: First Black President Should Be More Wary Of NSA Spying On Citizens
by Sabrina Siddiqui
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) escalated his criticism of the National Security Agency's mass surveillance programs Wednesday by invoking race to argue that President Barack Obama should be more sensitive to spying on citizens.
During an interview with The New York Times, Paul brought up the government's response to dissent in the 1960s, when leading civil rights advocates, including Martin Luther King Jr. and Muhammad Ali, were spied on.
"The first African-American president ought to be a little more conscious of the fact of what has happened with the abuses of domestic spying," Paul told Times reporter Jeremy Peters. "Martin Luther King was spied upon, civil rights leaders were spied upon, Muhammad Ali was spied upon, antiwar protesters were spied upon."
"The possibility for abuse in this is incredible," the senator added. "So I dont care if theres never been any evidence of abuse with the NSA. They should not be collecting the data."

(113,039 posts)What about the private firms selected by Poppy Bush to participate in the spying and who are most likely STILL reporting covert actions to Poppy Bush and the powerful elite?

(23,664 posts)He should be wary of it because he's a citizen, with the same right of privacy that any citizen has.
You can bet the NSA knows everything about him right down to when he takes a dump. They know how much money he has in his bank account, what kind of socks he buys and when he gets a haircut.
And if they wanted, they would know this about any of us. And they probably do. So I don't disagree with Paul that the NSA should not be collecting the data.
I didn't read the link. But I wonder what kind of crazy shit he said to offset the sort of normal comments posted here. Gotta be something.

(55,445 posts)since he is the one who explained (badly) to a national audience why he would have voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act...

(82,383 posts)And there isn't any "mass surveillance." Exaggeration of this is so Benghazi-like. They had no problem with Bush not even getting FISA warrants. Now suddenly it's "mass surveillance."
