In Florida, medical marijuana will be legal, John Morgan says (w/video)

Generation Jones, the youngest segment of baby boomers, is a very influential lot.

Born between 1954 and 1964, GenJonesers are taking the reins of government and becoming a powerful draw for advertisers.

In Florida, they are seen as a key demographic in the push to legalize medical marijuana when it's put to voters in November.

"Jonesers have smoked far more pot than any generation before or after us, which has resulted in more toleration and acceptance of that drug — and comfort with its legalization," said Jonathan Pontell, the social commentator credited with coining the term Generation Jones.

If anyone cares, I met John Morgan at a speech one time. Good guy. One of we "Jonesers".

I hope that Crist wins the governorship as well so that a friendly Dept of Health will establish the rules governing the use of cannabis. I need to study up on my horticulture....

Seriously. My very Catholic MIL lives in very white, Republican Venice, Florida. When her second husband (not my husband's father) was dying of cancer, she asked me if I knew where she could get medical marijuana. (Like I know. I don't live in Florida, and I have to get drug-tested, so I don't use it.) I told her that probably some of her neighbors were growing it on their lanais.

Considering that Florida is "God's Waiting Room", and the seniors down there develop a lot of health problems, I am very surprised that medical marijuana isn't already legal in that state. Probably the influence of the crazy Fundie Christians, or people who are worried because their little darlings would be exposed to it when they're visiting Grandma, or in the "Magic" Kingdom. Frankly, a bit of weed would probably make "It's A Small World" tolerable!
