Joe Biden addressed this issue once. He said something I will never forget. He said "soon the smile will come to your lips before the tear comes to your eye." You have lots of good memories.

Mousie deserves mourning. Sadly we all die. But some of us leave behind great memories.
Peace, my friend.

There are times when I still look around and wonder why my dog Keisha hasn't come out to greet me yet. She passed in August of last year, and I will never stop missing her.

I know it's too soon but Scat might benefit from a new friend. Maybe an adult cat from a multi cat home would be a good fit? Shelters have a hard time finding homes for adult kitties, since everyone wants a kitten. I've found adults from homes with multi cats tend to mesh into my household more seamlessly than kittens.

I know how hard it is to lose a furry family member.

I have been reading your posts since you mentioned her seizure.

We said goodbye to our Kizzie back in February. I can tell you, if it helps that I really understand. I still look at the place where her bed was in the living room. I miss my baby's stinky breath.

I miss her licking something on the floor while she slept.

Those things I can handle.

What is really hard for me is our cat Brewser, who literally knew kizzie since her birth (once, brew -- less than two months old at the time -- tried to nurse Kizz instead of her momma) still looks for Kizz. That part breaks my heart.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your Mousie. Please give Scat a loving rub from me and my Brewser?

ETA: a hug for you as well. ... and a meow & head bump from Brew.

I am still dealing with the loss of my bearded collie. I picked up his ashes this Saturday and was in bad shape the rest of the day.

my grandkids yesterday, and I came to a photo of a wonderful dog who was my best friend for 15 years, I teared up instantly.

And she died almost 24 years ago.

You never get totally over it, but you'll feel better soon, grits.

don't suppose that I can give you usable advice, but the best way to heal may be to get another cat, maybe from a shelter. Lose of a close relative or beloved pet create holes in our hearts that ache, far more so for close relatives - the best way to fill that hole is to get involved in loving someone or something - in your case that seems to be cats or causes that protect cats.

Compassionate liberals needing to share your pain and ease your burden. The loss of such a companion is often greater than that of a beloved human family member. We know.
