IRS Chief Tells Issa's Oversight Committee to Go Eff Itself

IRS Chief Tells Issa's Oversight Committee to Go Eff Itself
Who knew there was yet another hearing today before Issa's "oversight" committee, regarding the phony baloney IRS scandal? From The Washington Examiner:

IRS commissioner dares House GOP to hold him in contempt over Tea Party

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told a House panel that congressional investigators can try to hold him in contempt over the Tea Party targeting scandal whenever they think that they can make the charge stick, something he thinks is unlikely.

The topic came up when Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., asked for a date at which it would be appropriate for agency officials to be held in contempt if they have not yet provided the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee with documents that have been requested from the IRS.

"I think the timeline is whenever you think you could actually sustain that in a court," Koskinen replied
. "I think we have a strong case that we have been cooperative, continue to be cooperative, and anybody looking at the systems we have and the time it takes would find that we've provided you more cooperation than, in fact, might be expected. And I think that, in fact, arguing and threatening contempt in that situation without understanding the circumstances is probably not going to be held up."

IMO, member of the US Congress.

There are two people challenging him, red district, makes zero sense unless a scandal is cooking. I have my suspicion that it is.

I have a personal interest in this issue since I have a "friend" who works for the IRS. She was a Rush Limbaugh ditto-head until the IRS witchhunt started last summer.

Despite the fact that everyone loves to hate the Internal Revenue Service, they serve an important role. EVEN with a flat tax, some individuals will try to shirk their obligations to pay up. Shocker. In the free and happy libertarian world, everyone is so honest. And happy.

The criminal investigations unit has taken down some very bad people. Drug dealers and human trafficking kind of bad. They also gather evidence in cases of identity theft. Recent headlines about "IRS Phone Scam" made it sound like the IRS was running the scam when, in fact, they were warning the public about the problem. Forbes article about IRS => [link]http://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipserb/2014/02/26/irs-investigations-prosecutions-for-tax-crimes-up-in-2013/[/link]

Personally, I find it highly suspicious that Darrell Issa is leading the "investigation" against the IRS. Given his shady financial history, he seems to have 450 million reasons to wage a personal vendetta against the tax man. And I would dearly love to know what percentage of his income was paid in taxes last year.

Needed to say it's because you are contemptible for following this bullshit line of 'investigation' which is simply keeping you in the news by spending tax dollars.

But it was a polite rebuke.
