We're in agreement: Obama has made some serious mistakes

Therefore no one can ever again be an Obamabot. They're all gone.

We all agree Obama has made mistakes and he should be called out for those mistakes. Like Obama himself said: Hold my feet to the fire.

Now we can make some progress, eh?

Getting re-elected wasn't a serious mistake though. Part of the calculation was erring on the side of caution to put himself in a better position to beat them in 2012 since the nihilists couldn't portray him as a dictatorial partisan. Not the greatest outcome for the country, but vastly better than a President Romney.

In the face to Teapublican obstruction I don't think we can know if Obama did the wrong thing or if it was just the "best rabbit he could pull out of his hat".

The problems you have pointed out are things a functional government should be addressing.
A functional government does not waist time bickering about an elected leaders country of origin.
A functional government does not scream scandal at every opportunity weather scandal exists or not.
A functional government does not repeatably howl a mantra to imped progress. Can you say Benghazi?
A functional government does not attempt to repeal even a modest improvement in health-care 43 Fu**ing times.

Can you deny that the GOP has been a major cause of this disfunction?

No, I'm not an Obama apologist, still, do tell me more about how it is all Obama's fault.

I never expected him to be perfect, and he's not.

But i did expect, as you say, a functional government. One that tackles these real issues. I still have hope things will change and get better.

I also never expected Obama to be perfect. When you get right down to it the man has made some mistakes.
I just wonder if some of those mistakes were caused by the GOP's desire to cause government to be dysfunctional.
Could we have had a universal health plan?
Would the disgrace of Guitamao have been put behind us?
Would we have had less unemployment and a safer infrastructure?

I have no problem with holding "his feet to the fire".
I just ask that we take into account the type of the Teapublican crap he is dealing with.
The type of the Teapublican crap we all are dealing with.

I have first hand experience with it. I saw how some elected officials dealt with them, and beat them. And seen others cave into their demands.

The caving in and denial of truths is our downfall. I remember when campaigning for Obama in 2008, how many people came to vote for the first time in their lives. They did so because they wanted someone to stand up for them; the poor and the working class. I was told if it didn't happen soon the country was going down.

Sadly, in the last five years, we have fallen deeper and hope is fading. Gas is still too high, jobs are still too scarce, and the teabaggers are still too strong.

The Obama voters liked Obama when he was on TV speaking forcefully about change. Haven't seen the same in a long time. People who I try to get out the vote with are like: ""Are you still doing that? It makes no difference"", they say.

I know this: Obama isn't saving the country from its slide. We are still headed over the cliff. But i have hope things will change.

Face it, we fight an uphill battle.
Think of the money/propaganda (one dollar=one vote) that the GOP can bring to bare.
Think of the herd animal mentality of the Teapublican rank and file.
Then, on our side theres......
"change, what change, you promised change". Where is it?

It could be that the best I can hope for is that President Obama can slow down the side.

Here I go again with that cup is half full stuff.
At least were not here impotently bitching about President romney.

Thu Mar 27, 2014, 12:17 AM
Mar 2014

This constant harping on each other is not helping us progress. Recently what I have seen, and experienced, here on DU, is a huge amount of waste of time, and effort. I'd like that to end.

We have people like yourself who can deal with the reality that Obama is not perfect and others who are ready to tear you down because you say as much.

I have been called many bad names and had my creds called into question over minor things I personally feel and wish to express about the way things are going. Those attackers have earned a name and so I am calling them down and trying to calm them down. They have been running wild all over the site and hurting our unity.

I have been here a long time. Been thru many a battle and have not seen until recently the animosity be so bad.

There is no reason for it. Reasoned discussions like we have just had are more the style we need. Such discussions in the past encouraged me, informed me and gave me new ideas. I seek more such discussions and less getting slandered for minor, yes, minor disagreements.

Thank you, wandy.
