Breaking: NYT
He lied. He knew but said he did not. Now he says he forgot. Bye-bye Christie.
Other interesting new facts emerged, revealed in the report, that are scandalous.
Port Authority told Christie about the closings at Sept. 11 meeting.
The Port Authority official who oversaw the lane closing at the George Washington Bridge said that he had he informed Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey about it at a Sept. 11 memorial while the closings were occurring, according to an internal investigation released on Thursday by lawyers for the governor.
The official, David Wildstein, told Mr. Christies press secretary of the Sept 11 conversation at a dinner in December just before his resignation from the Port Authority, according to the report.
The report said that Mr. Christie did not recall any such conversation and finds no evidence that he was involved in the scheme, which snarled traffic for thousands of commuters in Fort Lee, N.J., from Sept. 9 through the morning of Sept. 12.
It is said that he got tears in his eyes when he was told in January. I'm sure he was thinking, "there goes my presidency.

(86,572 posts)blame on a woman, when he micromanaged everything. So if his exoneration team says there is some indication of a change in story, I'm on the he's guilty of orchestrating the whole thing along with all the other dirt and bodies that have risen to the surface in the interim.

(12,977 posts)Their attorneys haven't been on the wrong side of every issue -- Ted Olson spearheaded the overturn of Prop. 8 in California. But on the whole, they're overwhelmingly pro-corporate and pro-GOP.

(17,528 posts)They all worked close to one another...so why was it necessary to have those private meetings in their spare time? Because they were FORBIDDEN to EVER discuss any of their crooked plans via email because they knew it wasn't private.
The bridge closing wasn't the only illegal thing they discussed. The man is a liar!
I can just imagine the political comments and plans that were discussed. I guess we'll need a fly on the wall to find out unless Bridget Kelly, Stepien or Wildstien want to rat out Christie.
CHRISTIE IS A LIAR!

This tells me that there was in place a vindictive retaliation response to a public figure Christie didn't like, one who won't or didn't do as he wanted, and it was initiated by this cryptic "code."
I mean, if I got an email with "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," my response would be
I wonder if this was all worked out and one need only supply the location: "Time for some traffic problems in ________" Just fill in the space with a location.
So, this scheme had to have been discussed and planned in meetings; meetings involving everyone connected to Christie. And it might have taken several meetings to work out a plausible strategy. I just don't think Christie was ignorant to this. Uh, Governor, we're having another one of our 'meetings' so we want you to stay in your office this afternoon. 'Got it' [font size="1"]wink-wink[font size="2"]
It sounds like SOP and I now I wonder how many times this vindictive retaliation response was used prior to the GWB fiasco?

(5,294 posts)'Two simple words. Two simple words in the English language: "I forgot!"
'How many times do we let ourselves get into terrible situations because we don't say "I forgot"?
Let's say you're on trial for armed robbery. You say to the judge, "I forgot armed robbery was illegal."
Let's suppose he says back to you, "You have committed a foul crime. you have stolen hundreds and
thousands of dollars from people at random, and you say, 'I forgot'?"
'Two simple words: Excuuuuuse me!!" '

(70,501 posts)The governor points out that the mention of a traffic issue in Fort Lee would not have
been memorable or meaningful, Mr. Mastro added.
snip
It serves no ones interest for us to try and do anything other than uncover the truth
and report the truth, Mr. Mastro said. Because we are going to be judged if we got it right.
snip
It suggests that Mr. Christie became highly emotional at a meeting in the State House in
January when he learned that Ms. Kelly and Mr. Stepien were involved in the scheme, even
welling up with tears.
snip
Randy Mastro could have written his report the day he was hired and saved the taxpayers
the million dollars in fees he billed in generating this one-sided whitewash of serious misconduct
by the Christie administration, Ms. Zimmer, a Democrat, said in a statement.
Christie is toast .... this report is gas on the fire.
BTW ...... So tell me again why P.A. cops were telling drivers stuck in traffic the jam was
the mayor of Ft. Lee's fault?

(268,956 posts)I guess they need a large one for Christie - covering up the coverup by dissing two women is beyond pathetic.

(70,501 posts)Even this whitewash is damning. So the Governor did not know that the person
whose desk is less then a 30 second walk from his, Ms. Kelly, shut down the busiest
bridge in the world and then texted about a cover story less then 3 feet from the
Governor and he didn't know?

(82,849 posts)Oh, you monster! Gov. Christie can't put in a grueling pace like that:
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/06/governor-christie-takes-state-helicopter-to-sons-baseball-game/
He couldn't even walk a hundred yards to his helicopter, remember? And you expect him to *walk* all the way to his flunkie's desk? What kind of person are you??
It will be interesting to see just how loyal all of Christie's loyal staffers are, now that he's officially thrown them under the bus. The first one to talk to the U.S. Attorney will get the best deal, methinks.
