Issues- important issues are getting subsumed here on GD, by petty squabbles

there's a lot more interest in bickering bitterly than in discussing issues that effect us all.

It's kind of a shame. We get caught up in fighting over things that aren't issues that effect us.

I'm trying to recall if GD was always like this. I don't think so, but memory is often a faulty things.

Sometimes it's hard for me to remember this- but I do believe it's true of us DUers:

We all have FAR more in common (as far as political leanings, goals and objectives and humanism) than that which separates us.

regarding commentary you read on DU that you disagree with, in a pretty forceful way.

Did that slip your mind?

The ones you are criticizing for having a certain POV would say the same thing you are saying regarding their posts.

and I start very few threads that aren't issue oriented and most often I don't post in the ones that aren't.

but either you agree with what I said in the OP or you don't. It's not of great import to me, either way.

cheers

GD is pretty much what it is now, a catch-all with a very loose set of rules.

There are numerous threads in LBN and politics that delves into the issues in a really discussion oriented sense. Best bet is to just trash GD and keep the eyes elsewhere.

much more activism, and much more camaraderie. BUT...we had a singular cause -
to prove Bush really didn't win the election. It is almost like we are better when
we have an enemy to focus on.

I think all the discord now is rooted in the gross disappointment that after years
of waiting for a dem president - we underestimated how much it mattered that
all a dem prez can do with a roadblocking congress is to insure nothing horrible
happens.
