(2,381 posts)Totally serious here -- I didn't pay for my browser at all, so how would my use or non-use affect Mozilla's bottom line?
And also totally serious -- I for one stared using Firefox years ago, and this CEO is new to the job. Am I honestly expected to evaluate my use every time there's a management change?

(2,381 posts)Ninety percent of Mozilla's income apparently comes via contracts with Google. Use that information as you will, folks.

(30,947 posts)I also have Safari, but it has too many bugs and Firefox runs a lot better.

(45,274 posts)I switched to it because Chrome wouldn't handle certain 64-bit applications that I need. I had no idea about Eich, but I'll dump my Firefox and use Safari if Chrome still hasn't been fixed for my needs.
Thanks for letting me know.

But it was a good burn.

(39,343 posts)I don't know/care about the company that made my chair, still I sit in it.
I couldn't tell you the political leanings of the chairmen of the board for the place where I bought my shirt, still I'm going to wear it.
It would take such an insane amount of time and effort to check everything we do against some 'boycott list".
Plus how many LGBT people might loose their jobs at Mozilla if everyone stops using their products?

(45,411 posts)I use 64 bit Pale Moon for flash video. IE for work. And Chrome for most everything else. Firefox is slower than the Republican Party for my purposes.

(80,708 posts)Mozilla's trying to spin this, as is he. Although as thinkprogress notes, he did not apologize for the donation, nor clarify his position on marriage equality.

(1,278 posts)Granted the company made what seems to be the wrong choice...for the CEO position, their biggest problem, IMHO, is their inability to fix their memory release and usage issues associated with longer operations. I consider myself a near hardcore geek and like to keep Firefox, IE, and Chrome open continuously with a few other programs as well. I should not be getting out of Memory errors in Windows 8.1 Pro with 12 GB of system memory. Whether this is Firefox itself, or not sandboxing the memory requirements of plug-ins such as Adobe Flash (a notorious memory hog) doesn't matter, it's frustrating and don't really know if $100 to max out my system board w/memory will make a difference for faulty "garbage collection" and memory release points.

I love Firefox for the most part, but as far as I can tell it is downright sloppy with memory.
