So I got left out. I'm not eligible for subsidies because my income is too low and nothing will come up on healthcare.gov. That is because according to them I'm supposed to be eligible for Medicaid. But Indiana didn't expand Medicaid. It's sort of a catch-22 that some of us living in red states that didn't expand Medicaid are caught in. Thanks, stupid IN governor Pence.

I think we are all going to become better shoppers as this unrolls into the future, better at demanding fair treatment and prices, and people in opt out states are going to demand coverage!

for her to get treated in Georgia, but no one accepts her as a patient because she needs ovarian and breast surgery, and hospitals in GA are automatic lien hospitals, so they won't perform surgery because she already owes them money. Meanwhile, the right wing governor of GA out of spite and hoping to destroy ACA, has said no to the expansion of it.

I hate right wingers. I really, really do.

I also fell through the cracks, and am more than a tad bummed that I am not being helped, as well. But, that shit-eating grin on VP Biden's face is quite satisfying.

They need to get voted out of office. Or naybe if people start moving out of these states in droves they'll get the idea. But meanwhile, Joe's grin helps take the sting out of it.

But since IL did expand Medicaid, it's going to be a lot harder for a future governor to take it away.

for governor of IL

From the trib:

Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk on Sunday sharply criticized a feature of President Barack Obama’s signature health care law, contending Illinois’ expansion of Medicaid coverage deceives people into believing they have health insurance.

The state’s junior senator was joined by Republican governor nominee Bruce Rauner, who warned of the potential for a “massive” budget hole down the road due to Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn’s Medicaid expansion. Still, Rauner stopped short of saying Illinois should roll back the expanded Medicaid program. Many Republican governors have opposed adding to the number of people on the taxpayer-funded, federal-state health care program.

Monday marks the final day for people to sign up for private health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act, but applications for Medicaid are not subject to the deadline. Illinois is one of more than two dozen states that approved expanding Medicaid coverage to 138 percent of the federal poverty line. Federal health care officials say that is about $16,105 for an individual or $32,914 for a family of four.

Quinn signed the Medicaid expansion last July, noting that in Obama’s home state, “we believe access to quality health care is a fundamental right and we proudly embrace the Affordable Care Act.” While state officials had expected 200,000 more people to join, more than double that number have applied.

So many people don't like Quinn, we might end up with a republican governor.
