I was pleased to hear Jimmy Carter say that Gore actually won in 2000, not Bush - in so many words. The first democratic leader to go there, let's see more. Jimmy was a better president than given credit for, and out best ex president. While GWB is painting pictures of himself in the bathtub Jimmy is trying to help the needy and oppressed all over the world.
2000 was a supreme coup by the Supreme Court. They stopped the official recount not because further counting would harm the nation, but because it would harm George Bush - how brazen. So 2000 was an installation......then we get to 2004. I'm as sure as I can be that the vote was flipped. All signs early in the evening pointed to about a 53-47 victory for Kerry then what do you know, presto chango, Gore loses by about the same amount. Of course they blamed the exit polls. Polls that had usually been eerily accurate and so to be wrong by that much is hard to believe. Supposedly Karen Hughes went weeping up to Dubya early that evening, crushed by the signs of losing badly, and Dubya winked at her and told her not to worry.
The questions on those two elections are obvious. How much time did the corporate MSM spend on this - almost none. Liberal talkers like Al Franken would not go there thinking it would keep people at home.
So the right wing did get away with the theft of the nation - now their filthy rich can influence it all going forward, no limits. All of it with a lot of support from misguided and easily manipulated middle class folks who are screwing themselves with their votes. Buy hey, at least they may be making life harder for the gay couple down the street.
Is this a great country or what? Well...it used to be.
