today's supreme court decision to advance the cause of plutocracy in america strikes many as not adding up, but let's look at the logic in another form.
in an old behavioral experiment, scientists give food pellets to a rat if and only if the rat performs certain tricks, such as tapping a lever.
eventually, the rat starts performing the tricks more successfully and getting more and more food pellets.
the roberts decision essentially argues that in this experiment there isn't even the appearance of training. the rat is simply doing what it will do, the scientists are simply expressing their preference to see tricks performed, and the rat is simply showing general gratitude by performing those tricks.
not only is it not a quid pro quo, it isn't even the appearance of a quid pro quo.
as usual, some remarkable logic on display from the right-wing five in there endless quest for ever more plutocracy.
