This might be a dumb question, but it's been bothering me for a while

Would the Koch brothers or Sheldon Adelson really pay that more in taxes under a democrat to justify the amount of money they sink into the republicans?

has anyone done the math on that?

"Adelson, too, has long declared that Israel is his top political issue, above even banning online gambling."

off oil their profits would shrink considerably. They also have paid at least $500 million in fines from the EPA. As to their tax burden, the increase of 5% on cap gains, plus the medicare tax that was added under Obama would cost them about 1.5 Billion per year (estimated profits based on revenue of $115 Billion in 2012). But other things affect their profit as well, if they pass a law improving the structural integrity of rail cars that carry oil for example...what would that cost them?

They have 60k employees worldwide. I don't know how many in the US, but if the gov't passes a law like ACA that costs them an extra $10 per month per employee, that would cut 7.2 million off their bottom line if they couldn't pass the cost onto consumers.

They also have sold oil refining equipment to Iran through a foreign subsidiary. They probably don't want to have to worry about things like the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. I know their attorneys had to review the sale to make sure they were avoiding all the American laws.

Not when Democrats like Obama give huge permanent tax cuts to people like Alice Walton http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=4391547

And when that same disgusting bill gets sold to the masses as a "tax increase on the rich".

Who knows though, something different might have happened if Republicans had not controlled the House.

But I remain very unimpressed by the Democrats lack of fight in this matter and also by how they sold their sell out as a victory.

But that's just me. I am just the fool on the hill watching the sun going down ...

Environmental protection, labor support, all of these things have a greater impact on their wealth and their plans to exploit every drop of blood from the planet and from the rest of us than taxes.

The increased taxes they'd pay are chump change to them and besides, they've got offshore tax havens to stash their money in that the IRS hasn't heard of yet.

This is a power grab.
