http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/04/03/1289269/-Rush-Limbaugh-Can-t-Even-Keep-Dog-Turd-Removal-Ads-on-his-Right-Wing-Clown-Show2 years of constant pressure by online activists has decimated Limbaugh's once proud advertising potential. Ad breaks that used to be dominated by household names like Sony, Office Max, and JC Penney now contain ads for Social Security scams, herbal boner pills, and shady land deals.
Oh, and dog poop collectors.
Dog Doody Duty's rates depend on frequency of service and number of dogs. They do offer a flat fee of $50 for a one time visit, but indicate that certain jobs may result in additional charges.
So how much would it cost to remove El Rushbo?

Need evidence of just how far Limbaugh's stock had fallen? When notified by Flush Rush that their ad was running on the Rush Limbaugh Show, Dog Doody Duty immediately pulled the plug:
Dog Doody was the 3096th company to request ads not air on the Rush Limbaugh Show since March, 2012.

(51,076 posts)and this blowhard won't be around any longer. Won't have to worry with seeing him on the talk shows because he doesn't debate well at all. He's even worse at that than rove is.
It'll definitely be a better world with out this pedophiles trash talking off our airwaves.
This mo'fo has been married four times, can you imagine what it would be like living with a turd like him.
My hope is to see this cretin down and destitute by the time this is all over and done.

(13,590 posts)Political talk radio isn't a money maker regardless of who it is. Ads for snake oil have been a staple for most talk radio for many years. Even Hartmann, Rhodes and others on the left would run ads for nefarious goods and services. The difference is that Limbaugh's show isn't expected to make a profit. They would run it even if it loses money because his value isn't that he makes money but, rather, shapes public opinion. That, alone, is worth millions of dollars to his benefactors. As long as his show is able to advance right-wing agenda, he will be able to write his own ticket.
I guess it's like this: When a GOP politician is able to take a stand that is contrary to Limbaugh's demands (and not end up retreating and "apologizing to Rush" the next day, as they always do,) then his show will be in trouble.

(18,964 posts)If I recall, his model was unique at the time...It worked something like this:
Local stations got his show for free.
Three hours worth of content and he let them keep the local ad money
On the other hand, the national ad money went to Limbaugh and the value of that ad time increased as the number of stations he was being broadcast on increased.
So I don't think it's the advertisers alone that count, it has more to do with the number of stations that still carry his show.
He's lost a few major markets in the past couple of years but he's still collecting tons of $$$$$
boatloads of cash from his rw funders, whoever the hell that is.

(64,995 posts)His show has been a loss leader for long time. 3096 advertised have pulled themselves from the show.
That already suggests that he should be off the air because they're not making any money.
But, he's underwritten by some group to keep his nonsense on the air even though it's a microeconomic loss. They may be looking at a bigger macroeconomic effect of promoting their intellectually bankrupt philosophy.
But, when this many potential sources of revenue are running away from him, there is no way that show makes money. It just doesn't matter anymore.
Hence, ratings and revenue don't influence his presence on the air.

(2,679 posts)And that probably accounts for all the so called accidentally running an ad that the purchaser specifically requested not air during jabba-el-rush show.
I remember when the w was able to steal the election for a second time Clear Channel took out a billboard ad with some crazy crap about "Our Leader," near my house. Felt like 1930 Germany with images of the fuhrer all about the place.
Clear Channel sucks! Massive monopoly. They own like 70% or more of all radio stations and that I heart radio app thing.
It will be a while before they dump our favorite blathering fool. However, and hopefully the lack of money will one day be an issue for Clear Channel.

(18,964 posts)The profitable shows and stations run on Clear Channel CROSS SUBSIDIZE Limbaugh's losses.
Ironically, stations and shows that are not obnoxious to liberals end up subsidizing Limbaugh.

(450 posts)The ratings are now in the tank across the nation for AM Radio. Very few people under 35 listen to radio any longer, so by the end of this decade AM radio will be an empty spectrum except for religious stations. The same thing happened to world wide shortwave radio in the late 90's and 2000 and now it is mostly empty. Soon traffic updates will be sent to subscribers on their smart phones so they won't need to tune into AM or FM radio any longer for traffic updates.

(5,169 posts)You can build the biggest billboard in the world on a deserted island, but it doesn't mean anyone will see it.
Air America and others have tried to build progressive talk networks. But the audience just was NOT there. My opinion: for many conservatives, their politics are their life. Progressives on the other hand frequently are more into music, drama, and other entertaining and life-enriching interests.

(18,470 posts)My car has satellite radio built in, along with a USB port for my iPhone. I can count on one hand the number of hours I've listened to either AM or even FM radio in my car. Most times I either listen to satellite or content stored on my iPhone.

(11,843 posts)FM broadcast signals die out faster than AM broadcast signals. In many areas, the only radio that can be received is AM. Unless major changes are made to both transmitters and receivers (or satellite prices plummet) , rural areas are going to be listening to AM radio for quite some time. While it's true that few young people are going to tune into talk radio willingly, eventually one gets bored with the songs that they have. Something, anything, live starts to sound like a good idea. And most of what is available is conservative talk and religious broadcasting. Chicken or egg, rural areas skew conservative.
Ratings matter very little to either religious or conservative talk, they are funded by streams other than advertising. Traffic updates only matter in cities, so have little relevance in rural AM radio. Weather, on the other hand, is of more interest in rural areas and smart phones (if there is any coverage) do cut into need to listen to radio for weather updates.

(81,209 posts)Glad you're here! It IS hard to imagine. I heard some of his spiel once. I couldn't take more than a few minutes of it. I am proud of my naturally low blood pressure. It wouldn't stay low for long with that shit flying round near my ears. And yet he stays on the air. Beyond me!!!!
But then again, that cheap no-talent strumpet Kim Kardashian can make the cover of "Vogue," so there's clearly no accounting for taste anymore.

(255 posts)Hard to admit I actually listened to his radio show for a couple of weeks years ago. I saw a Rush is Right bumper sticker. Tuned in and listened for a couple of weeks. I was so pissed off I was ready to yank the radio out of the dash and trash it. I got a good taste of how the right feels about the hourly wage earner. He's a good reminder of that if nothing else.

(26,618 posts)changed to a right wing station with no ratings. The wealthy right wingers who own the stations don't care as long as they get their message out and they can take a tax write off.
