I'm not really sure what you'd like us to take from this. And what does "from what I hear" mean, exactly. From whom do you hear this? Please elaborate on "what you hear."
Plus, his name is Sharpton, not Sharton. You might want to correct your thread title.

Whatever. You still haven't said what you make of this story. I'm afraid I can't fault someone who helps the FBI in an organized crime syndicate case. Your mileage may differ.
And his name is still spelled "Sharpton."

(146,192 posts)I guess we'll see how the case works out.
So, do you think Al Sharpton is to be condemned for his FBI connection in the Mafia case? You still haven't said what you think.
Note: Thank you for correcting the spelling in your thread title.

(37,130 posts)Some of his supporters countered that the rumor was deliberately floated to alienate people on grounds that he was a snitch.
I wasn't really close enough to the matter to have much of an opinion one way or the other, but it seemed to me to be quite possible both versions could be true.

(13,992 posts)I haven't read through everything here, but I've heard it described as "conversations" about cocaine with some Gambino people, and that any charges against Sharpton would not have held up in court. But potentially ruined him as a community organizer.
So he became a CI.

(13,598 posts)Snitching is not a word that I think should ever be used unironically; we should be admiring and encouraging those with the courage to stand up to peer pressure and report criminals, not calling them names.

(13,598 posts)Do you understand that it's both stupid and wicked to do so?
I heard he owed big, big $ to irs and that a deal was made.

(5,169 posts)TPTB know that by accusing him of being a snitch, they can drive a wedge between him and his supporters. As well, they can put him in harm's way from the people he supposedly snitched on.
"Snitches Get Stitches And End Up In Ditches" is a powerful message.
