Bill O'Reilly Warns That The Hippies Are Coming For Rich White Guys

Last edited Tue Apr 8, 2014, 12:29 PM - Edit history (1)

According to the Fox News pundit, many of the hippies who protested against the Vietnam War and "embraced sex, drugs and rock and roll" have grown up to become "authority figures today, especially in the media."

And those same aged hippies are now fueling the "grievance industry."

The "grievance industry," O'Reilly told us, has been exploited to no end by President Obama and the Democrats. It's been "legitimized" by the "politically correct media."

......................

"The grievance industry basically says that America is not a fair nation, that the deck is stacked against minorities, women, the poor, gays, atheists, Muslims — you name it," O'Reilly explained. "And the bad guys are white males, the Republican Party, and anybody who doesn't buy into the grievance industry."

Great documentary! I watched the whole thing. Never realized how big they were. And how Dave Clark was so ahead of his time. I learned a lot and now I'm a big fan!

(I didn't even know Dave Clark was the drummer and leader of the band. And couldn't believe how many big hits they had.)

Every one of my former and current "hippie" friends are staunch defenders of freedom, equality, peace, love, understanding, and our dear planet. They would be loath to be called "teabaggers". Not one of the "teabagger" people I am acquainted with would dare call themselves "hippies".
But I do live in Colorado and we are the exception in many ways.

Most of them came from well-off families, wigged out in the 60's and early 70's when they were in school, did a lot of dope, protested against the war (until the draft was done away with). But over time, with their family money and life style passing to them, they reverted to their folks' conservative politics. I've got a few old friends who evolved into bona fide Old Austin Hippies, but they're definitely a minority.

on a nightly basis. Those poor desperate picked on wealthy who else would defend them?

Seriously who else airs more grievance on a daily basis than the FOX news. The entire channels format is one group therapy after another for airing grievances of a small subset of people whose life seems actually to be pretty good but they somehow refuse to believe it.

If not now, when?

I realize that pointing out the racism/sexism here at DU is uncomfortable, especially among those that are constantly making such posts; but I will continue doing so, so long as DUers deny that DUers continue making racist/sexist remarks.

Is it divisive? Only to those denying that it happens and/or those that wish to ignore that it is happening.

If that makes you (or the person that reported on my post), I apologize; but I am not sorry, nor we I stop.

ETA: Of course, if Skinner PMs me asking that I stop, I will consider that doing so ... along with my continued presence on this site.
