CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Marine standing guard at Camp Lejeune's Main Gate was shot and killed Tuesday evening.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., a Marine standing guard at Camp Lejeune's Main Gate discharged an M4 rifle, killing another Marine guard.
The Base Provost Marshal said in a statemnet that the incident is being considered neither as an act of terrorism nor an active shooter event at this time.
The identity of the two guards is being withheld until relatives are notified.
The incident is currently under investigation by Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

That leaves "accident" and "homicide," right?

(14,157 posts)quick draw type practicing. However, 5:30 pm is usually a busy time at a main gate, so it would be unusual for someone to be bored and playing around with his/her gun/weapon. (Which is inappropriate/unlawful at any hour)
