"Ocean Shield has been able to reacquire the signals that are consistent with airplane locator beacons on two more occasions -- both on Tuesday, said Angus Houston, head of the Australian-led search effort on Wednesday. Ocean Shield has now detected four transmissions in the same broad area. "I believe we are searching in the right area," he said."
CNN Breaking News email:
"The signals picked up by a ship searching for Flight 370 are consistent with a flight data recorder, said Angus Houston, head of the Australian-led search effort. The search area is now "reduced and much more manageable." Watch breaking news coverage now on CNN TV."

(115,276 posts)and figure out what caused it to crash - though I don't know what CNN will do with itself if they don't have 24-7 Flight 370 news to natter on about.
(They keep talking about the "towed pinger-locator," the device they are towing behind a ship to try to locate the FDR and CVR. But when I first heard that term I heard it as "toad-pinger locator," which would be something you'd use to find a toad pinger. Whatever that is.)

(OK, they just corrected it. I was starting to wonder what a black box pincer was - maybe a big underwater version of something like one of those claw toys where you put in some quarters and direct a claw thing to pick a toy out of a pile.)
