Her aorta ruptured, she's in surgery, it doesn't look good, but she is in good hands...
She's not even 35, her son, my nephew is 12...this sucks so fucking bad...
I have yet to wrap my head around this. I will keep you all posted.
Thanks in advance.

(2,947 posts)My mother went through AAA surgery when she was over 80. They gave us a 20% chance of surviving, but she came through it beautifully.

(2,979 posts)If you folks could post songs, poems, art, picture, memes, whatever, that have helped you all get through shitty times like this, I would appreciate it. I want to show her this thread when she gets back.

Does she like science fiction? The Miles Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold is great and I always read it when I need to take my mind off my problems. I recommend it to anyone even if you are not a big scifi fan. Bujold is a wonderful story teller who has a knack for writing wonderful characters.
Take care and extra hugs for your nephew.

(204,757 posts)Her relatively young age is certainly on her side and the progress they've made in recent years treating heart issues is totally amazing! Wishing her a safe and speedy recovery. Hang in there!

(23,278 posts)I pray she suffers little, and that all turns out well. Sometimes when the aorta ruptures,it doesn't exactly explode...the wall can balloon out and leak very slowly. These are the ones that are caught and repaired.
I'm praying for her son. He is the same age mine was when I had brain surgery. He honestly did not know if I would be alive or dead afterward.
I'm praying for you, that you know your value to them as their support, their rock.
I hope all turns out positively.
