Could Benghazi have been the GOP's 2012 October Surprise?

If it was, it sure didn't work.

2. I know it didn't work; I don't think they were counting on that

It would have been a simple four-step procedure:

Step 1: Defund embassy security. This we can prove.

Step 2: Piss on the Muslims enough that they retaliate fairly close to the election. Terry Jones with a Koran and a can of lighter fluid are enough to do it, and there was that anti-Muslim film.

Step 3: Blame the resultant attack on Obama.

Step 4: Sit back and watch the voters sweep Romney and a GOP Congress into power.

Step 4 didn't work out for 'em, so now it's Benghazi All The Time on Faux "News," in the halls of Congress and on the letters page of every newspaper.
