50 More Major Rush Limbaugh Sponsors Go Silent Boycotters Kicking His Ass(ets)
April 12, 2014

Yes, over 50 substantial Limbaugh sponsors have not been heard in months. This number is in addition to the thousands of national and local sponsors who have already pulled ads from radios most hateful talk show host, Rush Limbaugh. The boycotts, petitions, and protests continue to kick his ad revenue, as well as the assets of the radio networks that carry him. More and more consumers and activists are jumping into the protest via BoycottRush, StopRush, and FlushRush.
According to the StopRush Database, here are some of the major sponsors that have not been heard on Limbaughs show for at least 60 days. As of April 12, 2014, they include:

However, I expect him to be dropped by local stations that are very vulnerable to a loss of advertising revenue. His show might be free but they still have their own operating costs to pay for and many of them won't make enough during his show to do that.

(13,588 posts)In fact, if a station is hard up for ad revenue, brokered will be very attractive to them. That's the same model they used with Rush's old TV show, but it was outside prime time and on OTA stations back then.

(111,237 posts)Local stations can't afford to have air time that doesn't pay them enough to cover operating expenses. Yes, Limbag was free programming, but the stations that carried it were still dependent on LOCAL and CORPORATE ADVERTISING. The latter has dried up and there's no way that 15 second spots for Praise the Lord Mufflers, The Chozzerai Cafe and Eternal Rest Funeral Services are going to make up the difference.

(13,588 posts)I understand what you're saying but brokered radio time doesn't work that way. Instead of relying on local ad revenue to pay bills, the local station sells the time outright for more money than they could make on the ad slots. It's the same model used for a lot of shows hawking nefarious products and services (herbalife, 'financial advice,' etc.) The station can still make money and pay the bills without having to run any ads during the time period sold.

(41 posts)The local station sells the time outright, OK got that. What if nobody buys that air time. Wouldn't it be harder to sell a big bulk of the time as opposed to a 15 sec. time slot?

(13,058 posts)But most of the advertisers he has left are bottom feeders who buy their spots at steeply discounted rates. It's the only way he can sell his ad time. Also, in some conservative markets the show continues to sell local ads. But over all, his revenue is way down. How much he cares about this personally I don't know. He has already made his millions.

(406 posts)Conservatives probably didn't even know it existed in the first place. They've already got hundreds of sites manufacturing the Reagan myths weekly anyhow.

I noticed Discovery Channel and Advance Auto Parts in the list of defectors. So which is it? I hate when an article has these kinds of errors. I can no longer know if they have the facts straight.
But gotta love that the bottom feeder Income At Home is in the 6 month list.
