Douglas County corrections guards used pepper spray Friday to break up the second attack on the same inmate in two days.

The latest altercation involving murder suspect Anthony Floyd, 24, may have been gang-related, said John Hubbard, deputy director of the Douglas County Jail.

The brawl involving Floyd, James M. Briggs and Justin C. Proctor appeared to be spillover from a “beef from the streets,” Hubbard said.

No changes are planned to jail procedures, he said, but authorities will be watching known gang members more closely until things cool down on the outside.
