WI GOP to vote on secession at state convention

It's a moot point since the SCOTUS ruled in Texas v. White 74 U.S. 700 (1869) that no state can unilaterally secede from the union, but the teabaggers were never ones to accept constitutional law.

To secede or not to secede.

That will be the question for Wisconsin Republicans at next month's convention.

Earlier this month, the party's Resolutions Committee voted in favor of a proposal that says the state party "supports legislation that upholds Wisconsin's right, under extreme circumstances, to secede."

A version of the so-called "state sovereignty" resolution was first OK'd last month by one of the state GOP's eight regional caucuses as an assertion of the state's 10th Amendment rights. The measure also calls for ending all mandates that go "beyond the scope of the constitutionally delegated powers of the federal government.

you don't get to continue to vote in elections held by the country from which you seceded, or hold office in same.

I really am beginning to think the country would be immensely better if we could simply carve out a state's worth of land somewhere, and let all these nutcases have what they really want, their own little Somalia, and even pay to help them all move there. They'd no longer be dragging the rest of us to the right, and take their lunatic politicians with them. It would be 'win-win', with them getting an anarchist paradise, and the rest of us getting rid of them. And no 'backsies'. Once they go, they lose their US citizenship permanently and can't get it back. Put them on the border somewhere, and build a serious wall, and make illegal entry from 'dumbfuckistan' an offense punishable with 20 years in jail before deportation back. Don't even grant them visas to visit.

This is a dog whistle for the ACA in the immediate term and can easily be pushed towards all Medicare, Social Security, and Gun Control.
