Donald Trump: GOP not racist because ‘a lot of Republicans voted for the black president’

Conservative mogul Donald Trump on Monday denied charges that the Republican party was racist, saying some members of the party had defected and “voted for the black president.”
Over the last week, questions of racism within the GOP have reemerged after Attorney General Eric Holder pointed to the way he was treated by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) at a recent House hearing as part of the civil right struggles black leaders were still facing.
And over the weekend, Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) agreed that “not all” Republicans were racist, but he said that base of the party was “animated by racism.”
“You have Democrats calling Republicans racists!” Fox News host Eric Bolling exclaimed to Trump on Monday.
“I think it’s terrible, and I saw the president really about a week ago starting with the women, he’s now trying to get the women against large factions of people, including Republicans,” Trump noted. “The women card, now they’re starting, and a lot of women are very angry about it.”
“I’ve been with women, they’re extremely angry about being used.”
The reality star went on to say that Israel’s comments were out of line because “we have a black president, people voted for the black president.”
“A lot of, frankly, Republicans voted for the black president,” he added. “And they go and they play the race card. And it’s really a terrible thing. And I would say he’s out of line.”
