"It's easy to be anti-Republican, it's harder to be anti-oligarchy"
And that is precisely a problem here on DU.
Too little anti-oligarchy.

Is that anti-oligarch enough?
(I might piss on some Republicans, on fire or not.)

(32,324 posts)At no time in history is the need greater in terms of questioning basics as to "party leadership." Are the Democrats who are in bed with the Big Money really Democrats?
Be they in bed with the housing and mortgage fraud perpetrated on us, or the Big Pharma rip off perpetrated on it, or Big Military, I don't care which Big Money is involved: If a Democrat has done little for the middle and lower classes, and is a mere "face" used by the One Percent to "help" us accept the rise in the boiling frog pot's water temperature, is that person a Democrat at all?

(55,981 posts)Some here are anti-oligarchy only pertaining to Republicans. They will give ALL Democrats a pass. Sadly some Democrats support the oligarchy.
If you support the TPP, then you are supporting the oligarchy.
If you support the XL Pipeline, then you are supporting the oligarchy.
If you support indefinite detention, then you support the oligarchy.
If you support NSA spying on Americans you support the oligarchy.

(37,573 posts)just do not bother to fight the oligarchy.
I am thinking of newly elected Senator Elizabeth Warren.
She just sat there silently while most of the Bush tax cuts were being made permanent.
So did Senator elect Tammy Baldwin, a member of the progressive caucus. In fact, she joined Paul Ryan in voting FOR it.
I asked that in real time, where the hell were they? http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021880321
Permanent tax cuts for the rich were being signed into law and they were either AWOL or on the WRONG side.

(30,099 posts)Electing more Democrats is not, in and of itself, going to change the status quo...although
we want as many Republicans replaced with Democrats. We then need those Democrats
to support the 99% through a host of initiatives and there are too many obstacles that
will continue even if we end up with a majority in the House and Senate..an ambitious
campaign.
For me, it comes down to one issue, lobby money and how we build a movement to
move forward for public funded elections..over turning CU, as well.
Anti-oligarchy will take a greater initiative than merely casting your vote for a Democrat.
