especially when they are supporting a millionaire rancher stealing public resources.
But when a group of peaceful protesters occupy a small square in New York to fight against the corporate elite screwing over the whole nation, they are just Dirty Fucking Commie Hippies.

(16,070 posts)...in all of the scenarios you mention, not once do those militia members get to shoot anybody! Especially if the people they're shooting at can't shoot back...

(19,877 posts)The Founders envisioned militias to protect our govt from foreign enemies, now militias claim to be enemies of our govt. They were for well regulated militias, now we just have unregulated loonies with guns.

(16,423 posts)Facing death, that takes guts.
Parading around with a huge gun, shooting at practice-targets, declaring yourself as the valiant defender of a just cause. That doesn't take guts. That takes a big mouth.
One of them already said, they had planned to sacrifice their women as meat-shields, calculating that the outrage in the media would force the feds to back down.
Now those are some heroes, some courageous warriors who keep the great tyrant at bay.

(10,164 posts)That's a part of the original purpose of militias. The big, big problem I have with the idiots that showed up in this incident was that they were willing to take up arms for such a feeble, wrong-headed reason. Helping a millionaire asshole get away with stealing public resources? Really?!?
The militia rationale in the Second Amendment exists to combat oppression and tyranny, foreign or domestic...not to aid and abet theft.

(1,957 posts)Where's Holder? In that oath he and our federal officials took, they said they would defend our constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
When will that happen? Yes, Waco might have been a misstep but Janet Reno did what she felt necessary to assert the enforcement of the law.
Holder has been silent for these many years as state after state denied voting rights, denied worker's rights, denied the sovereignty of the federal gov't.
Where is our FOR the people?
Times have changed and it is now time to redefine the right of free speech -- that there are limits to that freedom and the rights of the victims of that speech's injury should start being heard. At what point does Beck and others cross the line into treason? The only way to find out is in court.
Well past time to find out.
